Abstract: Disclosed is a method for monitoring a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) in order to enable communication over a plurality of cells in a mobile communication system, including acquiring a cell index for a cell, wherein the cell index is user equipment (UE)-specific and is informed based on radio resource control (RRC) signaling, monitoring a first PDCCH on a common search space that is for system information and is defined on a single cell for the plurality of cells, monitoring a second PDCCH on a dedicated search space defined for the cell, wherein the cell is one among the plurality of cells, and the dedicated search space is defined for each of the plurality of cells, respectively, and receiving a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) on the cell based on the second PDCCH, wherein the cell index is associated with one downlink frequency configured by the RRC signaling.

Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for transmitting control information and data in an SC-FDMA communication system. The method includes placing a reference signal onto one middle symbol among a plurality of symbols in one slot, wherein the one slot is one of two slots in one subframe; placing CQI information onto at least one symbol of other symbols except for the one middle symbol; placing the data onto the other symbols except for the one middle symbol; placing a HARQ-ACK onto two symbols, wherein the two symbols are directly adjacent to the one middle symbol; and transmitting a signal including the reference signal, the data, the CQI information, and the HARQ-ACK. The HARQ-ACK is placed onto a position of at least part of the data. The symbols are SC-FDMA symbols, the one middle symbol is a 4th symbol, the two symbols are a 3rd symbol and a 5th symbol.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for transmitting and receiving a signal using a sequence in a wireless communication system. The method includes receiving, from a base station, information indicating whether sequence hopping is applied or not; transmitting, to the base station, the signal using a first sequence if a number of resource blocks allocated to the user equipment is less than a predetermined value; and transmitting, to the base station, the signal using a second sequence to which the sequence hopping is applied based on the received information if the number of the resource blocks allocated to the user equipment is greater than or equal to the predetermined value. The sequence hopping is performed using a pseudo-random function, and the sequence hopping is performed in a unit of a slot.

A method includes receiving one or more data TBs in one or more downlink data channels over TTIs; generating acknowledgement information comprising four acknowledgement bits, jointly representing a state of reception results for the plurality of data TBs, if the UE is configured for reception of the downlink data channels from two cells, a number of the TTIs is three or four, and a number of the data TBs is greater than a number of the acknowledgement bits; generating acknowledgement information respectively representing a reception result for each data TB by a corresponding acknowledgement bit, if the UE is configured for reception of the downlink data channels from a single cell or two cells, and a number of the TTIs is one or two; encoding the acknowledgement bits; multiplexing the encoded acknowledgement bits with uplink data; and transmitting the multiplexed acknowledgement bits and the uplink data on an uplink data channel.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for a User Equipment (UE) to transmit in a control channel ACKnowledgement signals associated with a Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest process (HARQ-ACK signals) in response to receiving Transport Blocks (TBs) transmitted from a base station. The UE conveys the HARQ-ACK information by selecting one resource from multiple resources in the control channel and by selecting a constellation point of the modulation scheme for the HARQ-ACK signal. Transmission diversity is supported using different control channel resources that are already available to the UE without configuring additional resources. Design principles are described to optimally map the HARQ-ACK information to control channel resources and modulation constellation points for a Time Division Duplex (TDD) system and for a Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) system.
