摘要: The present invention provides an optical receptacle that reduces the fluctuation of the optical coupling efficiency with the optical plug. The optical receptacle of the invention comprises a stub with a filler therein and a sleeve assembly to receive the optical plug. The stub with a cylindrical shape has an opening in the side where the optical plug is to be in contact thereto and a bore in the other side. The diameter of the opening is comparable to that of the core of the external fiber, while the diameter of the bore is greater than that of the opening. The filler exposes in this opening to couple with the external optical fiber. Thus, the optical coupling efficiency between the filler and the external fiber may enhance and the fluctuation thereof due to the insertion/extraction of the optical plug can be reduced.

摘要: The present invention provides a sleeve assembly and an optical sub-assembly, in which dimensional tolerance may be expanded for both holding the stub and inserting/extracting the ferrule. The sleeve assembly of the present invention includes a stub, a bush, a sleeve, a ring member, and a sleeve cover. The stub is held by the bush such that the bush is press-fitted between the first portion of the stub and the sleeve cover. While, the second portion of the stub is secured by the ring member through the first mating portion of the sleeve. Thus, in the present sleeve assembly, dimensional accuracy for holding the stub and that for inserting/extracting the ferrule are independent with respect to each other. Therefore, manufacturing tolerance of the sleeve assembly can be widened.

摘要: An optical module is disclosed, in which the optical module installs a plurality of optical devices each optically coupling with a single fiber in the focused beam coupling system. The optical module includes a condenser lens, and respective optical devices install an individual lens. One of the beam waists of the condenser lens locates on the end of the optical fiber and the other of the beam waist locates on the outer wall of the coupling unit to which the optical devices are attached. One of the beam waists of the individual lens in the optical device substantially aligns with the other beam waist of the condenser lens, while, the other of the beam waist of the individual lens aligns at the semiconductor optical device.

摘要: An optical receptacle that enhances the optical coupling tolerance is disclosed. The optical receptacle of the invention provides, in stead of the coupling fiber installed in a conventional optical receptacle, a glass member with a diameter substantially equal to the diameter of the external fiber. The glass member, which is held by the support, provides a convex surface that abuts against the top of the external ferrule and another surface inclined with the optical axis to prevent the light reflected thereat from returning the optical device. The glass member has a substantially homogeneous distribution in the refractive index thereof; accordingly, the fluctuation in the optical coupling with the external ferrule may be reduced.

摘要: An optical module 11a comprises an optical-receptacle housing 13, an optical-communication subassembly 15, and a holder 17. The flange portion 13b has a plurality of first portions 13c, which extend along a reference plane perpendicular to a predetermined axis, Ax, and a plurality of second portions 13d, each of which is positioned between the first portions 13c. The outer periphery of the first portions 13c is positioned at the outside of a reference cylinder whose center is coincident with the predetermined axis Ax. The outer periphery of the second portions 13d is positioned at the inside of the reference cylinder. The optical-receptacle housing 13 and the holder 17 are temporarily fixed to each other at the second portions 13d of the flange portion 13b through second bonding members 27a to 27d. The optical-receptacle housing 13 and the holder 17 are further fixed with increased strength to each other at the first portions 13c of the flange portion 13b through first bonding members 25a to 25d. As a result, the deviation in optical alignment can be decreased to a small magnitude.
