In one embodiment, a method of detecting a battery type can include: receiving a signal from a battery module in a portable computing device; determining if the signal is in a first state for at least a first predetermined time before transitioning to a second state; determining if the signal transitions from the second state to the first state after a second predetermined time, and identifying the battery type in response thereto; and asserting an indication of the battery type when a third predetermined time period after the transition from the second state to the first state has occurred.

摘要： A multi-drop bus system and a method for operating such a system. The system includes a multi-drop bus having at least one bus line, each bus line being made up of a multiple of line segments. Each of the line segments terminates at a drop point and each drop point is coupled to a load impedance. The characteristic impedance of a line segment is matched to the equivalent impedance presented by the load impedance in combination with the characteristic impedance of a following segment, or is matched to the load impedance if there is no following segment.

摘要： A modular power converter including a first housing enclosing a converter circuit, and a selectively detachable second housing enclosing a retracting power cable. In a first orientation, the detachable second housing is secured to the first housing to form a unitary housing. In a second orientation, the second housing is detached from the first housing such that a first end of the extended power cable may tether to the first housing output a selectable distance therefrom. The cable also has a second end extendable from the second housing a predetermined distance. This modular power converter forms a single compact device when the power cable is not extended from the second housing.

After execution of such a trusted agent, a secure kernel may then be launched, in certain embodiments. The system may be a multiprocessor server system having a partially or fully connected topology with arbitrary point-to-point interconnects, for example.
