    Abstract: Firearm sight systems have an elongated mounting rail including a plurality of transverse bars separated by intervening transverse mounting location channels extending from a rearmost channel to a forwardmost channel, the rail having an elongated upper surface, the rail defining a pocket below the upper surface and at least in part forward of the rearmost channel, and a sight arm pivotally connected to the rail and movable between an elevated position angularly offset from the upper surface of the rail and a stowed position in which the sight arm occupies the pocket. At least a forward portion of the sight arm may be entirely below the upper surface of the rail when in the stowed position. The entire sight arm may be entirely below the upper surface of the rail when in the stowed position. The sight arm may pivot on a pivot axis below the upper surface of the rail.

    Abstract: A firearm such as a pistol, which uses “iron sights”. The forward sight element is secured to a forward portion of the pistol and has a generally rectangular cross section. The rear sight has a left element and a right element, both of which are secured to the pistol at a rearward portion of the firearm. To assist the user in sighting when the forward sight may appear larger than the gap between the rear sight elements, the rear sight elements each have a profile in which they are narrower at a base near the pistol than at the sighting gap distal from the pistol.

    Abstract: A detachable carrying handle for a firearm, such as a semi-automatic or automatic firearm, having increased range. The detachable carrying handle includes a carrying handle body that defines a window to receive a rear sight base of a rear sight. The carrying handle body further includes a pin opening positioned below the window that is configured to secure the rear sight base of the rear sight to the carrying handle body through the use of a pin. The rear sight base further defines a sight opening and a threaded end that is configured to mate with a threaded opening of an elevation knob positioned in the window. The elevation knob may be used, in operation, to adjust the height of the rear sight. The threaded end of the rear sight base further includes at least one elongated slot that are configured to receive the pin that is used to secure the rear sight base to the carrying handle body. The detachable carrying handle of the present invention provides a solution to the problems of limited range of known firearms using a rear sight mounted to the carrying handle.

    Abstract: A rear sight for a handheld weapon. The rear sight includes a tubular device that includes a tubular member comprising a material capable of transmitting visible light so that a target may be viewed through the tubular member, the tubular device, when mounted on a weapon, having at least two circle-like images at different locations along the length thereof that are visible when aiming the weapon on which the sight is mounted at a target by viewing the target through the tubular member. When aiming the weapon, a user will look through the tubular member towards the target and for proper alignment with respect to the target, will maneuver the weapon until the circle-like images are concentrically disposed. This constitutes a simple operation that can be quickly performed, particularly also in low light conditions.

    Abstract: A molded peepsight for a crossbow or rifle having in one integral structure a cone or horn portion, a neck portion extending from the apex of the cone portion, a pair of wing members at the end of the neck portion opposite the cone portion, and an axial aperture extending through the wing members, neck, and cone portions. The wing members extend in diametrically opposite directions to permit being passed through an elongated slot in a sight bracket when oriented parallel to the longitudinal axis of the slot. Thereafter the peepsight is rotated 90*, causing the wing members to grip the sight bracket on each side of the slot and thereby mount the peepsight. The free ends of the wing members are provided with a detent and bevelling to assist the mounting and seating of the peepsight on the bracket. An aperture extending through the peepsight is conically shaped tapering in a direction from the rear toward the front of the peepsight.
