摘要: A vehicle controller or a portable controller has a memory that stores an inside data group having information on the intensity of request signals transmitted from a plurality of transmitting antennas when a position of a portable device is the inside of a vehicle, and an outside data group having information on the intensity of request signals transmitted from the plurality of transmitting antennas when the position of the portable device is the outside of the vehicle. The vehicle controller determines whether the information on the intensity of request signals is closer to the inside data group or the outside data group stored in the memory.

摘要: An electronic clinical thermometer has a probe including a temperature sensor and a heat flux sensor which are controlled to make measurements at specified time intervals. The measured values are used in solving the equation of heat conduction to estimate the temperature of an internal body position. A heater may be included to preheat a body part in order to reduce the time required for measurement. The probe may use two temperature sensors to measure temperatures at two body surface positions through insulating members which are different in thermal conductivity.

摘要: In accordance with a first aspect of the present invention, a digital device is provided with a data transmitter designed to receive constituting elements of a data structure, determine occurrence frequency of each unique constituting element in the data structure, assign a cookie representation to each of the unique constituting elements based at least in part on the occurrence frequencies of the unique constituting elements, and transmit the data structure implicitly in a substantively equivalent form that allows a receiver of the data structure in the substantively equivalent form to be able to reconstitute the data structure using the occurrence frequency based cookie representations. In accordance with another aspect of the present invention, a digital device is provided with a data receiver designed to receive unique constituting elements of a data structure transmitted in a pre-determined manner, infer corresponding cookie representations for the received unique constituting elements in accordance with their manner of transmissions under the pre-determined manner of transmission, and receive the constituting elements of the data structure in a representative form. In one embodiment, the data receiver is further designed to reconstitute the constituting elements of the data structure, received in the representative form, based on the inferred cookie representations.

摘要: The present invention provides a common namespace for Internet and local filesystem objects. In a preferred embodiment, the common namespaces constructed by first accessing a namespace definition table. The namespace definition table contains entries referencing both a filesystem namespace subtree definition module and an Internet namespace subtree definition module. The entry referencing the filesystem namespace subtree definition module is used to access the filesystem namespace subtree definition module in order to define a filesystem namespace subtree that encompasses filesystem addresses. Similarly, the entry referencing the Internet namespace subtree definition module is used to access the Internet namespace subtree definition module to define an Internet namespace subtree that encompasses Internet addresses. The defined filesystem and Internet namespace subtrees are then combined in order to assemble a namespace encompassing both filesystem addresses and Internet addresses.

摘要: An object-oriented framework comprises system services, objects, and integration interfaces which unify retrieval and browsing of data among multiple different application programs, document formats, and local and remote data storage sites. The framework provides a hyperlink object which encapsulates general hyperlink navigation functions. The hyperlink object has a moniker which references a hyperlink's target, and a location string which designates a location in the target. The hyperlink object uses the moniker to retrieve the target as an object in the framework, and causes the object to display a view of the target at the location. The framework also provides a browse context object which maintains a navigation stack of navigated hyperlink targets, and allows passing of window and navigation tool bar position information to a frame in which the target is displayed to effect the appearance of window reuse when navigating between frames. The framework also includes a cache and table of running objects to speed return navigation to recently navigated targets.

摘要: An operating system provides extensions through which application developers may extend the capabilities of a shell of the operating system. For example, application developers may add menu items to context menus for objects that are visible within an integrated system name space. In addition, developers may add property sheet pages for such objects. Application developers also have the option of providing per-instance icons for each instance of an object. Application developers may provide data object extension handlers for customizing data sources on a per-object class basis and may provide drop target extension handlers on a per-object class basis to customize drop target behavior. Developers may additionally provide copy-hook handlers to regulate file system operations on objects. Developers may also extend the functionality provided by the shell of the operating system by adding their own custom name spaces to the integrated system name space. The mechanism provided by the operating system to add such a name space is polymorphic and transparent to users.

摘要: An operating system provides support for the encapsulation of extracted portions of documents into objects known as scrap objects and subsequently integrated into other documents. The scrap objects may be treated like any other file system objects. The scrap objects provide a persistent storage mechanism for extracted portions of documents that are transferred between applications. Scrap object may be created using either a clipboard mechanism or a drag-and-drop mechanism.
