摘要: A delivery system includes an inflatable delivery balloon formed with a plurality of constraining elements which create constrained regions in a body portion of the balloon, interposed between unconstrained regions. The constrained regions create recesses for receiving a medical device or part of a medical device. The constraining elements are preferably formed by woven or braided material, advantageously embedded within the wall of the inflatable balloon. The constraining elements provide a structure that will not flatten upon inflation of the balloon and also a structure which can readily be folded or wrapped for endoluminal delivery purposes, and which retains flexibility of the delivery device.

摘要: An implantable medical device includes first and second material capture elements which are disposed in opposing orientations and have their narrow ends facing one another. The first and second material capture elements are connected by a flexible connector, which enables the implantable medical device to curve within a curved vessel of a patient. The flexible connector is either closed or has a lumen passing therethrough and includes a closure element for closing the lumen after deployment of the device within a patient. The structure enables the device to be positioned reliably within a curved vessel and benefits from the advantage of a double-ended device.

摘要: A medical instrument is provided including a device having an expandable portion and a transitional portion. The transitional portion has a spiral cut on the outer surface, and is aligned with the distal portion of a catheter. The transitional portion may be secured to the catheter by a sleeve which is coupled to both the catheter and the transitional portion. Alternatively, the portion of the transitional portion having the spiral cut may be embedded within the catheter.

摘要: The present disclosure describes filter devices for deployment to body vessels where clots or emboli may need to be captured, particularly the vena cava. The filter device is of unitary construction, having been cut from a substantially planar sheet of a metal, in some instances a shape memory metal. The device has a construction including a plurality of petals, the petals containing an inner rib which curves in the deployed state. A method of making a filter device is also disclosed.

摘要: The implantable medical device includes at least one frame having a rounded shape and formed of a plurality of rounded legs. In one embodiment, the device includes two frames having similar rounded shapes and coupled to one another by means of a flexible coupling. The flexible coupling enables the frames to tilt relative to one another and relative to a vessel in which the device is deployed. The rounded nature of the frames enables the frames to tilt in the vessel while retaining proper contact to the vessel wall and the functional characteristics of the frames. The device may have just one frame in some embodiments and three or more frames in other embodiments. The device may be a filter, an occluding device or any other suitable medical device.

摘要: An energy delivery system and a method of delivering energy to a tissue are provided. The energy delivery system includes an overtube. The overtube includes a body having a proximal portion, a distal portion and a lumen extending at least partially therethrough. The proximal portion is adapted to be positioned over a distal portion of an endoscope. The body also includes a first plurality of openings formed in the body and connected to the lumen and an electrode operably connected to the body and extending over at least a portion of a surface of the body. The lumen is operably connectable to a vacuum source and the electrode is operably connectable to a power source.

摘要: Among other things, there are disclosed apparatuses and methods for medically sealing an opening in a vessel or wall. For example, in medical applications, a delivery tube is provided for insertion through a sheath into a vessel (e.g. a blood vessel). A dome-shaped seal fixed to a filament, an absorbent and/or compressible buffer, and a locking member are provided in the delivery tube. The delivery tube is configured so that it can be inserted into the vessel through a sheath. Tension is maintained on the filament to hold the seal against the tube or sheath. The sheath is pulled out, which pulls out the tube at the same time, leaving the seal over the opening in the vessel wall. The locking member compresses the buffer against the outside of the vessel and with the filament holds the seal in place against the inside of a vessel.
