The porous composites comprise a pressure-molded composite of carbon particles and thermoplastic resin particles which have a particle size distribution of 0 to 45 .mu.m. The pores are formed by dry mixing a water-leachable salt with a pore size distribution of 5 to 200 .mu.m with the carbon and resin mixture and water extracting the salt to form the porous composite.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for detecting rotor faults in an induction motor. Such induction motors have a stator and a rotor comprising a multiplicity of rotor bars. The flux around the rotor bars is detecte at a predefined flux detection point in the motor, generally by using a coil wound around one of the stator teeth. A synchronization signal is generated once per revolution of the rotor when a predefined position on the rotor is closest to a stator reference point, usually the flux detection point. The detected flux signal is filtered to reject signals in a predefined frequency band around the frequency at which the rotor bars pass the flux detection point, and then it is synchronously time averaged. Averaging requires that corresponding portions of the flux signal, for a series of rotor revolutions, be added, and the synchronization signal is used as a reference for matching corresponding portions of the flux signal. Statistically significant peaks in the resulting time averaged signal indicate the presence of a rotor bar fault, and the location of such peaks corresponds to the location of rotor bar faults with respect to the predefined position on the rotor.

    摘要: An actuator for an electrical circuit interrupter utilizes a gas generating chemical charge which is carried in its own cylindrical operating chamber. These power units are stored in a magazine and are fed into an operating position by a transfer cylinder in the form of a rotary turret head having cylindrical cutouts for the power units. The operating position specifically is with a chamber juxtaposed opposite one of the two input ports of a duplex power cylinder which is connected to the operating linkages of the interrupter itself. After the power unit has operated to open the interrupter, it is ejected. The operating action is linked to a duplicate set of a storage magazine and transfer cylinder for the close direction so that while the interrupter is opening the duplicate close actuator portion is readied for instantaneous action. This provides for a fast reclosing duty cycle and multiple operations. Also, for high operating speeds and good reliability.

    摘要: An automatic compensation circuit for use with an analog multiplier is disclosed. At regular intervals at least one input to the analog multiplier is constrained to be zero for a short time. During this time a sample and hold circuit retains the pre-existing output voltage and a feedback circuit is activated which adjusts the output voltage of the multiplier to zero, thereby providing an accurate multiplied or product signal, typically representing power consumption, which is adjusted or compensated for the effects of any internal errors occurring within the analog multiplier.

    摘要: A cooling apparatus and related method for a continuous casting apparatus includes a series of spray nozzles for spraying a coolant against one surface of a moving chill substrate. The invention apparatus includes an enclosure having vacuum applied thereto for preventing migration of the sprayed coolant from the surface against which it is sprayed to the surface contacting the molten solidifying material. Any coolant having a tendency to escape along sealed edges of the enclosure is forced back into the enclosure by the pressure gradient. The edges are sealed by elongated plastic rods. Additionally, scrapers are provided for removing remanent coolant from the sprayed surface. The coolant is sprayed at a high velocity to increase its heat transferring efficiency.
