摘要： A blanket cylinder for use in offset lithography in combination with a blanket assembly having a rubber blanket bonded to a major portion of a metal-made carrier sheet. The carrier sheet has a first end portion bent at an angle to the major portion to provide a first flange, and a second end portion bent twofold to provide a second flange at an angle to the major portion, and a rim at an angle to the second flange. The blanket cylinder has formed therein an undercut groove in which the flanges of the blanket carrier sheet are to be received, with the first flange in positive engagement with one longitudinal edge of the groove. Rotatably mounted in the undercut groove is a retainer spindle which is cross-sectionally shaped to provide a pull-in hook for engaging the rim of the carrier sheet for pulling the second flange into the groove in mounting the blanket assembly, and a push-out ledge for abutment against the carrier sheet rim in order to push the second flange out the groove in dismounting the blanket assembly. A pair of torsion springs are coiled around the opposite ends of the retainer spindle for energizing the same in a direction for holding the blanket assembly fast against the cylinder surface.

摘要： A paper feeding apparatus is provided for use in a web threading apparatus of a rotary press for threading a web along a web threading path by drawing a leading end of the web using a web threading member movably provided on an outside portion of the web threading path and along the web threading path. The paper feeding apparatus includes a pair of an upstream roller and a downstream roller extending substantially parallel to a width direction of the web in the web threading path, and a driving mechanism for driving the upstream and downstream rollers in a feeding direction of the web and for ensuring that a peripheral speed of the downstream roller is at least equal to a moving speed of the web threading member. The upstream and downstream rollers are offset on an upstream side and a downstream side in a direction of the web threading path so that the web is not nipped by both the upstream roller and the downstream roller. A peripheral surface of one of the upstream and downstream rollers contacts a first side surface of the web and a peripheral surface of the other of the upstream and downstream rollers contacts a second side surface of the web, in a manner such that slipping between the rollers and the web is increased in response to a lowering of a tension on the web and such that slipping between the rollers and the web is decreased in response to an increase of the tension on the web. In addition, the upstream roller is displaceable in accordance with a variation of the tension on the web so as to constantly apply a force against the tension.

A residual paper web winding device of such reel feeding apparatus comprises a transmitting member provided on at least one of the reel supporting members of the opposing pair of the reel supporting arms, a driving unit for driving the transmitting member to be rotatable, and a gas blow unit for blowing gas to a residual paper web which is drawn out and hung down from the reel supported by the reel supporting members, so as to spread out the hung-down residual paper web.

An improvement in the or each constructional unit further comprises a first drive source for the folding station and a second drive source separately provided from the first drive source for operating the printing stations and the paper feed stations. In addition, a control apparatus may be provided for controlling both the first drive source and the second drive source so that the folding station and the printing stations may, in the constructional unit, be operated in a matched state. A control apparatus may also be provided capable of selectively combining the printing stations and a respective one of the folding stations together independently of the constructional units for controlling both the first drive source and the second drive source so that those folding station and printing stations which are selectively combined together may be operated in a matched state. A guide mechanism being capable of selectively guiding the continuous sheets of paper onto the folding stations in one and another of the constructional units. An improved printing method using such a rotary press is also claimed.

The device comprises first and second conveyors which can be moved between a V-shaped position, wherein unusable paper is conveyed in a forward direction and rolled up into a cylindrical shape, and parallel positions, wherein the rolled-up, unusable paper is compressed flatly and discharged. A semi-arched guiding device disposed above the two conveyors cooperates with the conveyors to roll up the unusable paper into a cylindrical shape and one of the conveyors changes its conveying direction to switch from a rolling up mode to an ejection mode.

In the contacting position, the cutter guide enters under the surface portion via a leading end (4a) of the paper roll when the paper roll is rotated and thereby forms a clearance under the surface portion. The cutter is inserted in the clearance and moves parallel to the paper roll axis to cut off only the surface portion of the paper roll along its entire width.
