Abstract:
A fiber comprised of chitin having a single yarn denier of 0.5 to 20 and a dry tensile strength of 2 g/d or more, and a process for the production thereof are described. The use of such chitin fibers permits the production of surgical sutures having high tensile strength and flexibility, and good absorption properties.
Abstract:
A fishing net made from conjugated yarns of a polyamide resin comprising one monofilament to the outer periphery of which are fused two other monofilaments in a longitudinal direction. The two other monofilaments are separate from each other, and the three monofilaments form a conjugated angle .theta. which is greater than 60 degrees and not greater than 120 degrees.
Abstract:
An etherified phenolic chelate resin prepared by stabilizing and protecting the chelate groups of a phenolic chelate resin and then converting some or all of the phenolic hydroxyl groups into either groups; a process for the production of the etherified phenolic chelate resin; and a method for separating a heavy metal ion from an aqueous solution having a pH of at least 7 by using this etherified phenolic chelate resin.
Abstract:
Antithrombogenic polymeric materials are prepared by bonding a synthetic fibrinolytic compound or a combination of a synthetic fibrinolytic compound and a fibrinolytic enzyme to a polymeric material. Bonding is preferably by covalent or ionic bonding. The antithrombogenic polymeric materials are useful for preparing various types of medical articles that come into contact with blood.
Abstract:
A resin composition comprising: (a) an aromatic co-polyester comprising terephthalic acid, isophthalic acid and a halogen-free bisphenol; and (b) a halogen-containing aromatic co-polyester containing terephthalic acid, isophthalic acid and, at least in part, a bisphenol bearing a halogen substituent(s) as a comonomer. Molded articles prepared from such a resin composition possess excellent mechanical properties, electrical properties and flame-retardant capabilities.
Abstract:
This invention relates to an improved dyeable polypropylene composition comprising a polypropylene and a polyamine adduct or salt thereof of a halogenated isotactic polypropylene having at least 25 carbon atoms and a polyamine group. The invention also relates to articles made from the improved dyeable polypropylene composition. This improved composition has better dyebath exhaustion characteristics, requires less amine adduct and is less sticky than compositions using known amine adducts.
Abstract:
A composition comprising an aromatic co-polyester and poly(ethylene oxybenzoate), in which A. THE AROMATIC CO-POLYESTER IS A RESINOUS PRODUCT REPRESENTED BY THE FORMULA: WHEREIN X is -O-, -S-, -SO-, -SO2-, an alkylene group or an alkylidene group; R1, R2, R3, R4, R''1, R''2, R''3 and R''4, which may be the same or different, each is a hydrogen atom, a chlorine atom, a bromine atom or a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms and n is a positive integer which provides a resinous product; B. THE POLY(ETHYLENE OXYBENZOATE) IS PRESENT IN AN AMOUNT OF FROM 0.1 TO 50 WEIGHT % BASED ON THE SUM OF THE WEIGHT OF THE AROMATIC CO-POLYESTER AND THE POLY(ETHYLENE OXYBENZOATE); AND C. THE
MOIETY IN THE ABOVE FORMULA IS A TEREPHTHALIC ACID UNIT OR AN ISOPHTHALIC ACID UNIT, AND IS PRESENT IN THE AROMATIC COPOLYESTER AT A MOLAR RATIO OF 9:1 TO 1:9, RESPECTIVELY, USEFUL AS A COMPOSITION FOR PRODUCING MOLDED ARTICLES HAVING IMPROVED HYDROLYSIS, CRACKING AND CRAZING RESISTANCE.
Abstract:
A fishing gill net made of synthetic fiber yarns whose legs or parts between the knots constituting the meshes thereof, each in parallel or which are specifically loosely entangled but untwisted with one another. In water, depending on these constructions of the filaments composing legs, respective filaments separate from each other and form small meshes between the two knots in addition to ordinary ground meshes between the multiple legs.
Abstract:
This specification discloses skis having the following characteristics: (1) an upwardly curved front tip, (2) an uncurved sliding surface, (3) a steering string attached to the curved front tip, (4) a boot heel binding near the tail end of the ski plate so as to place the center of the body weight near the tail end of the ski, (5) overall length which is remarkably shorter than that of conventional skis, and (6) gradually increasing thickness from the front tip to the tail end.
Abstract:
THIS INVENTION RELATES TO VERY THIN POLYAMIDE FILMS HAVING HIGH PURITY AND TRANSPARENCY, HIGH TENSILE STRENGTH, AND OTHER IMPROVED PROPERTIES.
