摘要： An applicator is provided which is adapted to insert a vaginal sponge into a woman's vagina directly against the cervix. The applicator comprises an outer barrel open at an upper end for receiving and delivering a vaginal sponge against the cervix. Piston means are further provided within the outer barrel and include gripping means at one end thereof external of the barrel and a piston head at the opposite end thereof internal within the barrel. An ejector lever is pivotably mounted on the internally contained piston head and is adapted to deliver the vaginal sponge out of the barrel through the upper open end and directly against the cervix at an angle relative to the applicator as the piston head is caused to travel in the direction of the open upper end of the barrel.

摘要： A tampon applicator includes a tubular barrel adapted to house a tampon therein and accommodate a slidable, tubular plunger which is adapted to push the tampon within the barrel out of the forward end of the barrel into a vagina. The barrel includes a rear portion having two diametrically opposed, substantially flattened surfaces with gripping ribs thereon and an angled transitional shoulder which has a reduced diameter relative to the front portion of the barrel. The flattened surface and the angled shoulder form a thumb and finger hold which enables a user to securely and comfortably maneuver and position the applicator and tampon therein.

摘要： A device for inserting a sterile tampon comprising an outer tube, an insertion tube which slides telescopically inside the outer tube, and a sterile tampon releasably attached to the forward end of the insertion tube and pressed against the inside of the closed forward end of the outer tube, the outer tube being weakened at its forward end so as to rupture when manual pressure is applied to the insertion tube to permit ejection of the tampon into the vagina, the outer tube having two spaced laterally outwardly projecting members, one located adjacent the rearward end of the outer tube and the other located in the central portion between the forward end and the rearward end of the outer tube to position the forward end of the outer tube at a desired depth, the member at the rearward end of the outer tube serving as a finger grip, the insertion tube having at its forward end a means for releasably gripping the string end of the tampon and at its rearward end a laterally outwardly projecting member to prevent sliding of the insertion tube into the outer tube beyond the position where the projecting member contacts the rearward end of the outer tube.

The surface of the member may be exposed by relative movement of one of the walls of the applicator with respect to the member. In one embodiment, the applicator sleeve is provided with a slit extending to one end permitting the sleeve to be rolled along a direction substantially parallel with the central axis of the member, and may include an opposing second slit at the other end facilitating a pushing movement of the member through the sleeve.

摘要： A plastic applicator tube for inserting hygienic media into body cavities in which the forward end of the tube has a substantially closed dome-like or tapered structure comprised of juxtaposed triangular-shaped flexible segments adapted to open radially outward when the hygienic media is expelled therethrough. The tube is injection-molded or thermo-formed so that at least the outwardly facing edges of the juxtaposed sides of the segments have a rounded contour in cross-section. When the outwardly facing edges are formed by injection molding, the outer circumferential surface area of the segmented tube end is also free of the flash which sometimes forms during such molding.
