The apparatus includes an actuator assembly having a base and a piston which is longitudinally displaceable relative to the base, and a pusher rod. The base of the actuator assembly is removably attachable to a discharge end of the stator tube. The pusher rod is longitudinally releasably attachable to the piston at a plurality of locations along the length of the pusher rod and is located to engage the rotor when the base is coupled to the stator tube. The pusher rod is coupled to the piston and the piston is driven by the actuator assembly. With only slight modifications the apparatus may also be used to install the stator tube on the rotor when operated in a substantially opposite way.

The device includes a hollow cylindrical wedge which cylindrically collapses a tube inwardly upon driving the wedge between the tube hole and outer tube wall. The wedge has longitudinal ridges on its inner surface and inwardly tapered edges at its end which is driven into the tube hole such that the tube may be readily inwardly collapsed. Upon retracting the wedge from the tube hole, the wedge engages the tube and the tube is removed from the drum inside the wedge.

An apparatus for extracting screw elements from a screw shaft comprises a frame, a stationary clamp mounted on the frame and disposable between open and closed positions, a carriage mounted on the frame for motion toward and away from the stationary clamp, a movable clamp mounted on the carriage for motion therewith and disposable between open and closed positions, a first drive coupled to the stationary clamp for opening and closing the stationary clamp, a second drive coupled to the movable clamp for opening and closing the movable clamp, and a third drive coupled to the carriage for causing motion of the carriage toward and away from the stationary clamp, wherein clamping of a downstream screw element by the stationary clamp, clamping of an upstream screw element by the movable clamp and one or more strokes of the carriage away from the stationary clamp result in removal of the downstream screw element held in place by the stationary clamp from the screw shaft. The procedure is repeated until all the remaining screw elements are removed.
