Abstract:
An apparatus for making a smoking article, the smoking article having a rod of smoke able material (15) and a cylindrically wrapped layer of sheet material, comprises a holder (3) for holding sheet material, an embossing unit (8) configured to emboss sheet material drawn from the holder and an assembling station (14) for assembling the smoking article, configured to receive embossed sheet material from the embossing unit and to wrap the embossed sheet material at least partially around a part of the smoking article.
Abstract:
An embossing apparatus comprises pairs of rotary embossing drums (230) driven by respective servo motors (260). The drums have an embossing formation. A conveyor feeds blanks to the embossing drums (230). A control senses the position and speed of the blank and the position and speed of the drum and applies a correction to the rotational position of the drum such that the blank will engage the embossing formation in the correct position as it travels past the formation.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for manufacturing a hygiene paper product includes: providing a continuous paper web, moving the continuous web in the direction of its longitudinal extension, applying a repetitive creative structure relative to the longitudinal extension of the web as a first pattern to the web with a first roll, applying a repetitive functional structure relative to the longitudinal extension of the web as a second pattern to the web with a second roll, while enabling the first pattern to be in register with the second pattern by concurrently controlling the repetitive surface speed of continuous web and the phasing between the first roll and the second roll.
Abstract:
A logo embossing assembly for sheet products comprising at least one supporting frame for at least one embossing roller and at least one presser roller, which are arranged so as to have parallel axes substantially in mutual contact along respective generatrices and between which at least one continuous ribbon from which the sheet products are obtained can pass, the embossing roller and the presser roller being provided with respective motion transmission elements which are associated with a power-assisted rotary actuation, that is functionally controlled by at least one programmable control and processing unit adapted to perform the angular phase adjustments of the embossing roller with respect to fixed references of the continuous ribbon, so as to provide figures in relief on the products in predefined regions in relation to specific production requirements.
Abstract:
An embossing system for embossing and perforating at least a portion of a web is provided comprising a first embossing roll having embossing elements and at least a second embossing roll having embossing elements, wherein the elements of the first and second embossing rolls define perforate nips for embossing and perforating the web and wherein at least a predominate number of the perforate nips are substantially oriented in the cross-machine direction. Moreover, substantially all of the nips defined by the embossing elements of the first and second embossing rolls can be substantially oriented in the cross-machine direction. Further, the cross-machine embossing elements are at an angle of about 85° to 95° from the machine direction.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for producing different hole patterns in sheet-shaped print materials. An apparatus and process for producing different hole patterns in a sheet-shaped print material is provided wherein a punch in a tool roller is raised and lowered relative to an outer surface of the tool roller in order to effectuate and ineffectuate, respectively, punching by the punch. According to a preferred embodiment, a die roller is provided having a die corresponding with the punch, and sheets are fed through the tool roller and the die roller. In one embodiment punches and dies are provided, and the punches are selectively raised and lowered in order to achieve a desired hole pattern in the sheet.
Abstract:
A process for making continuous stretchable substrate products comprising the steps of supplying a web of stretchable substrate having a first surface and a second surface, embossing at least one of the surfaces of the web substrate with an embossed image using at least one embossing roller, printing at least one of the surfaces of the web substrate with a printed image using at least one printing roller; wherein the embossed image and the printed image are disposed onto the substrate relative to each other such that a print/emboss registration is created, measuring the angular location of one embossing roller and translating that location into a digital signal, measuring the angular location of one printing roller and translating that location into a digital signal, manually zeroing the print/emboss registration; and automatically controlling the print and emboss rolls to maintain registration using a control program that comprises the steps of i) comparing the digital signal from the embossing roller and the digital signal from the printing roller, and ii) correcting the angular location and angular speed of either the embossing roller or the printing roller.
Abstract:
A roll substrate product comprising a stretchable material web having a first surface and a second surface, comprising at least one of the surfaces of the stretchable web has been disposed with a mechanically formed embossment pattern, at least one of the surfaces of stretchable web has been disposed with a printed image, wherein at least a portion of the print image is not in the embossed area of the image, and the MD Registration Margin of Error between the embossment pattern and the printed pattern is less than 6.0 mm.
Abstract:
A method of embossing an absorbent web with a machine direction undulatory structure is described. The web has a plurality of ridges extending in its machine direction occurring at a frequency, F, across the web and the method includes providing the web to an embossing station where the web is embossed between a first and second embossing roll, each of which rolls may be provided with a plurality of embossing elements configured to define a plurality of embossing nips. At least a portion of the embossing nips are substantially oriented in a cross-machine direction with respect to the web and have a cross direction length, L. The product FnullL is from about 0.1 to about 5.
Abstract:
The perceived softness of embossed tissue can be increased greatly while avoiding nesting when a particular pattern is embossed into the tissue. This pattern combines relatively shallow stitchlike bosses with deeper more sharply defined signature bosses. The stitchlike bosses can be rounded and arranged in wavy flowing intersecting lines. The signature bosses can be arranged in regions framed by the intersecting wavy flowing lines.
