摘要： A coating method for sheathing material formed from paper or card for smoking materials or parts of smoking materials in order to reduce the tendency of the sheathing material to absorb and diffuse aqueous or oily substances, the sheathing material being provided on the same side with two coatings, which are applied one on top of the other and are each applied in liquid form in two successive coating steps. In the first coating step, at least one layer of a first coating substance is applied, which reduces the ability of the paper or card to absorb the liquid volatile matrix of the second coating substance; in the second coating step, at least one layer of a second coating substance is applied, which is repellent or impermeable to one or more of the following substances: oils, fats, waxes, alcohols, and water.

摘要： The present invention describes a single-layer printing method of a wrapper for smoking articles, so as to obtain a wrapper for smoking articles with low propensity to ignition using the flexographic technique, characterized in that (1) the printing is carried out by means of a central drum flexographic printing machine using a single printing unit, (2) said unit has an anilox with a capacity of between 10 and 40 cm3/m2 and a printing cylinder equipped with a printing form selected from a stencil plate plus an adhesive, and a sleeve, and (3) in that an ink is used that comprises at least one film-forming substance and a mineral filler. The present invention also relates to the wrapper that can be obtained by this method and to the smoking article that includes said wrapper.

摘要： A wrapper for a smoking article includes a web; and a patterned deposit on at least a portion of one surface of the wrapper, wherein the patterned deposit comprises catalyst particles. The patterned deposit can include a nanoparticle catalyst that is capable of catalyzing the conversion of a constituent gas component in the mainstream and/or sidestream smoke of the smoking article. The constituent gas component can be carbon monoxide and/or nitric oxide and the catalyst particles can be iron oxide. Also provided is a smoking article comprising a tobacco rod having a wrapper formed around the tobacco rod, the wrapper including a patterned deposit on at least a portion of one surface of the wrapper. A method of making the wrapper and a method of making a smoking article utilizing the wrapper are also provided.

摘要： A process for reducing the permeability of a paper wrapper used in the construction of a smoking article is disclosed. The paper wrapper is treated with a film-forming composition that forms treated discrete areas on the wrapper. The treated discrete areas have a permeability within a predetermined range sufficient to reduce the ignition proclivity properties of a smoking article made with the wrapper. In accordance with the present invention, the film-forming composition contains a film-forming material. The film-forming material has a relatively low viscosity. In this manner, the film-forming composition can have a relatively high solids content and still be applied to the wrapper using conventional techniques, such as by using a gravure printer.
