摘要: A construction machine is disclosed having a main frame that is supported by means of three or four vertically adjustable suspension points from a pair of walking beams located on opposite sides of the main frame. Each walking beam has a vertical steering axis at each of its ends connected to a bogey-mounted self-propelled ground engagement means in the form of a wheel or endless track. In one embodiment one of the walking beams is connected to a side of the main frame by two spaced vertically adjustable suspension means that attach to the beam through pivotal bogey-mounts. One of these adjustable suspension means is pivotally mounted to the frame, while the other is fixed to the frame. The other walking beam is connected to the opposite side of the main frame on a single central vertically adjustable suspension means through a bogey-mount to constitute a three-point suspension on two walking beams for the assembly. In a second embodiment, both walking beams have two spaced vertically adjustable suspension means, one of which on each beam is pivoted on a horizontal axis from the frame to constitute a four-point suspension on two modified walking beams. In each of the embodiments the four ground engagement means at the ends of the walking beams are steerable in pairs, in unison or independently and can be turned or re-oriented about their steering axes so that the direction of travel can be forward or backward (longitudinally) of the frame or toward either side, thus providing flexibility in operation and allowing for side-mounted or straddle-mounted tools. Steering can be in increments, or a full 360.degree. as desired. The frame telescopes in one direction, and the power of the machine used in widening or shortening the frame.

摘要: A composition for reducing the loss of liquids by seepage through permeable ground surfaces is shown. The composition desirably comprises an aqueous emulsion of asphalt including a cationic emulsifier, a nonionic surface active agent and elastomer solids. The compositions are adapted for spray, roller, brush or flooding, etc., application, on natural and man-made beds of rivers, ponds and other water impoundment and transfer structures. The stability of the emulsion is controlled so that penetration of the soil is achieved, and a flexible water impervious mass is obtained.

摘要: A composition for reducing the loss of liquids by seepage through permeable ground surfaces is shown. The composition desirably comprises an aqueous emulsion of asphalt including a combination of cationic emulsifiers, a nonionic surface active agent and preferably a minor proportion of elastomer solids. The compositions are adapted for spray application on natural and man-made beds of rivers, ponds and other water impoundment and transfer structures. The stability of the emulsion is controlled so that penetration of the soil is achieved and a flexible water impervious mass is obtained.

摘要: A liner is provided for irrigation ditches or the like. The liner is prefabricated in sections many feet long of glass fiber reinforced plastic resin. A section of glass fiber on the order of four to 6 inches long at each end of each prefabricated section is left free of resin. The non-resin covered fiberglass ends are overlapped and coated with resin as the liner sections are applied in the ditch, thereby providing a continuous reinforced liner for the ditch.

摘要: A canal bank retaining wall means and method of making same comprising, an elongate wall poured in place on an earthen canal bank immediately after digging said canal, said retaining wall having expansion joint means therein at spaced intervals along the length thereof for enabling expansion and contraction of said wall upon temperature changes in the surrounding environment. If desired, removable sections may be provided in said retaining wall so that said sections may be removed after the canal is constructed in order that a boat slip or a dock the like may be economically built in said retaining wall. Also, the surface of the retaining wall exposed to the water in said canal may be roughened to provide an ecologically better environment for marine life and other organisms, if desired.
