Abstract: A door closer for affording a controlled closing movement to a door including a return spring, an oil hydraulic piston and cylinder means, and a valve for generating a damping force when the door closers, said valve comprises a movable valve member for regulating oil flow through the valve, and a bimetal element connected with the movable valve member in response to the change in the temperature thereby attaining a substantially constant closing speed of the door irrespective to the change in the temperature.

Abstract: A hinge includes a stop part to secure the hinge to a stationary furniture part; an articulated lever; and a hinge cup pivotally arranged on the stop part via the articulated lever. The articulated lever with the hinge cup is mounted via an articulated axle, and the hinge cup can be secured to a movable furniture part. A damping device dampens a relative movement between the stop part and the hinge cup between an open position and a closed position of the hinge. The damping device has a linear damper including a piston and a piston rod, and is arranged outside of the hinge cup. An actuation element separate from the articulated lever actuates the damping device. The actuation element is rotatably mounted on the hinge cup, and the piston rod is movable in a substantially translational manner relative to the linear damper by a rotation of the actuation element.

Abstract: A sliding door assembly includes a door frame with a top trim member, a bottom sill, and side jambs connected between the top trim member and the bottom sill, and a primary sliding panel secured in the door frame. The top trim member includes a track configured to support a weight of the primary sliding panel and prevent the primary sliding panel from coming off the track. Other features include an interlock mechanism to limit relative movement using multiple sliding doors and a brake mechanism to secure the doors in position when the door handle is released. A drop window includes features to accommodate for manufacturing tolerances and box frame assemblies that are out of square.

Abstract: A door component has a controllable damper device that contains a magnetorheological fluid as a working fluid. Two connection units of the damper device can be moved relative to each other. One of the two connection units can be connected to a support structure, and the other connection unit can be connected to a pivotal door device in order to damp a movement of the door device between a closed position and an open position in a controlled manner. The magnetorheological damper device has a piston unit and a cylinder unit which surrounds the piston unit. The piston unit divides a cylinder volume into two chambers. The piston unit has a first piston rod, which extends through the first chamber, and a second piston rod, which extends through the second chamber.

Abstract: A method for damping a movement of a door system of a vehicle that is equipped with a damping system having an adjustable and controllable damping action. A movement of the door system between a closed position and an open position is damped in a controlled manner. A measurement of the change in speed of the speed of movement of the door system is calculated and if the change in speed exceeds a predefined limit value, a set, gentle damping action is changed over to a greater damping action.
