The generator 1 has a dilute solution inlet 3, a solution outlet 4, and a vapor outlet 5. A multiplicity of heat transfer fins 6 are provided on the outer periphery of a drum shell 2 of the generator. A circulation guide 7 is provided along the inner periphery of the drum shell. Openings are respectively provided in the bottom and top of the circulation guide 7. The solution outlet 4 has an overflow weir 10. The vapor outlet 5 has a downwardly facing opening 11 inside the can of the generator. The dilute solution inlet 3 is provided with a mixing chamber 20 which is separated from the solution in the drum shell of the generator and where the solution in the drum shell and dilute solution from the dilute solution inlet mix with each other.

    摘要: This invention relates to a cooling and heating system which operates on the absorption and phase change heat exchange principle. More particularly it relates to a continuous heat actuated, air cooled, double effect generator cycle, absorption system. In further aspects, this invention relates to a system constructed for use with an absorption refrigeration solution pair consisting of a nonvolatile absorbent and a highly volatile refrigerant which is highly soluble in the absorbent.     摘要: An air cooling unit for a vehicle having a source of energy, such as heat from crankcase oil or transmission oil or a source of electrical power, such as an alternator. The cooling unit is of the absorption type and includes a condenser in series with an evaporator, an absorber and a boiler. The cooling unit is provided with a refrigerant, such as ammonia, and an absorption fluid, such as water. Hydrogen gas can optionally be placed in the cooling unit to move between the evaporator and the absorber to reduce the partial pressure of the refrigerant. A return line in the form of a coil extends from the boiler to an inlet of the absorber to return the absorption fluid to the absorber after the absorption fluid has been separated by heat from the refrigerant gas in the boiler. All of the components of the cooling unit are sized, shaped and located so that the cooling unit provides a compact package capable of being fitted into a relatively small space. A fan can be provided to blow air past the evaporator and through the vehicle for cooling the interior thereof. In one form of the cooling unit, the boiler is provided with heated oil to serve as a heat source, the oil being taken either from the crankcase of the vehicle or from the transmission of the vehicle. In another form of the invention, the boiler includes an electrical resistance heating element in a housing for receiving a mixture of refrigerant and absorption fluid from the absorber, the electrical resistance heating element having means for coupling the same to an electrical energy source, such as the alternator of the vehicle.

The tubes are spaced close together near the top of the heat exchanger and spaced more widely apart near the bottom of the heat exchanger. Dilute absorbent solution is sprayed down through the heat exchanger. The close nesting of the tubes in the top portion of the heat exchanger retards liquid flow and aids heating of the solution. The wide spacing of the tubes in the lower section of the heat exchanger facilitate vapor flow out of the heat exchanger and eliminates liquid "blow-off". The top tubes are covered by a baffle to prevent the liquid solution from splashing out of the heat exchanger off of these top tubes.

    摘要: An improvement in refrigerators of the absorber type in which heat from a flame circulates the refrigerant in the refrigerating cycle, particularly for use in caravans. To prevent the flame being extinguished in draughty conditions there is provided shielding means for protecting the flame, a flue extending from above the flame upwardly to an exit into ambient air, and means at the flue exit such as a venturi device adapted to provide a reduction of pressure from ambient air to the interior of the flue in draughty conditions of the ambient air. Preferably, the shielding means totally encloses the flame and is provided with an inlet connection pipe adapted to provide access for ambient air to the interior of the shielding means, the entrance to the inlet connection pipe having baffles and foils adapted to prevent any reduction of pressure from ambient air to the inlet connection pipe interior in draughty conditions of the ambient air. An ante chamber is preferably interposed in the inlet connection pipe and a moisture trap is preferably interposed in the flue.
