Abstract:
An air-conditioning apparatus includes at least one system including a heat-medium conveying device, a heat-medium flow regulator, and a heat-medium flow control device, as a heat medium system capable of regulating a flow rate of a heat medium supplied to a heat source device-side heat exchanger exchanging heat between refrigerant and the heat medium. The air-conditioning apparatus switches each of a plurality of use-side heat exchangers to a cooling operation or a heating operation in accordance with a control command to perform a cooling and heating simultaneous operation. The refrigerant is caused to flow through the heat source device-side heat exchanger depending on a ratio of a total cooling capacity and a total heating capacity of the plurality of use-side heat exchangers. The heat-medium flow control device controls the flow rate of the heat medium supplied to the heat source device-side heat exchanger based on a difference between the total cooling capacity and the total heating capacity of the plurality of use-side heat exchangers and a total operation capacity of the heat source device-side heat exchanger.

A microchannel coil assembly comprising a frame, a plurality of microchannel coils positioned within the frame, a microchannel coil spray system, a controller in communication with the microchannel coil spray system and one or more fans positioned above the microchannel spray system. The microchannel coil spray system is positioned about the frame and above the plurality of microchannel coils and is configured to provide a spray to the plurality of microchannel coils and the one or more fans are configured to direct air downward across the plurality of microchannel coils. Further, the controller is configured to operate the microchannel coil spray system based on a predetermined event and the predetermined event is a load of the plurality of microchannel coils.

A working fluid for use in a compression refrigeration, air conditioning or heat pump system, is described, which has a refrigerant composed of a fluoro-olefin, and a lubricant which is a mixture of polyol ester and a polyoxyalkylene glycol, and the polyol ester is present in an amount of at least 50% by weight based on the total weight of the polyol ester and the polyoxyalkylene glycol. A lubricant, being a mixture of a polyol ester and a polyoxyalkylene glycol, is described and comprises at least 10% by weight of polyoxyalkylene glycol based on the total weight of the polyol ester and the polyoxyalkylene glycol.
Abstract:
A microchannel heat exchanger has a core having at least one heat exchange tube bank having a plurality of flow channels with a small hydraulic diameter less than 5 mm. A means is provided to reduce the amount of water retained on the external surfaces of the at least one heat exchange tube bank. These means may utilize the incorporation of a particular routing of refrigerant within the heat exchanger, the operation and control of a fan associated with the heat exchanger, or the provision of structure to at least partially block liquid from reaching the heat exchanger tube bank.

Abstract:
According to the present invention, there is provided a plasma polymerization surface modification of a metal for enhancing its applicability for use in refrigerating and airconditioning such as in constructing heat exchanges, by using a DC discharge plasma, compriding the steps of: (a) positioning an anode electrode which is substantially of metal to be surface-modified and a cathode electrode in a chamber, (b) maintaining a pressure in the chamber at a predetermined vacuum level, (c) blowing a reaction gas composed of an unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon monomer gas or flourine-containing monomer and silicon containing monomer gas at a predetermined pressure and a non-polymerixable gas at a predetermined pressure into the chamber, and (d) applying a voltage to the electrodes in order to obtain a DC discharge, whereby to obtain a plasma consisting of positive and negative ions and radicals generated from the unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon monomer gas and the non-plymerizable gas, and then forming a polymer with hyrdophilcity or hydrophobicity on the surface of the anode electrode by plasma deposition, and there is also provided a plasma polymerization surface modification of a metal for enhancing its applicability for use in refrigerating and air conditioning such as in constructing heat exchanges, by using an RF plasma.

Abstract:
A heat transfer system for use in cooling and dehumidifying an interior space while rejecting heat to several alternative sources. The system incorporates three primary heat transfer coils in a mechanical refrigeration cycle to provide comfort cooling to an interior space while rejecting heat to one of the two primary condensing mediums. In addition the beat transfer system of the present invention functions by transferring heat from the atmosphere to a pool, thereby functioning as a pool heater. In a first operating mode heat transferred from an interior space to the ambient atmosphere. In a second operating mode heat is transferred from an interior space to pool water. In a third operating mode heat is transferred from the ambient atmosphere to pool water. A refrigerant-to-water heat exchanger is disclosed having a gas trap for isolating corrosive gases from the metallic heat exchanger components, and further including a sacrificial zinc anode for corrosion protection. A novel control system is disclosed using first and second desired pool water temperature set-points for maximizing system efficiency.
Abstract:
An air conditioner includes a case accommodating an evaporator having a core portion and a lower tan disposed at a bottom of the core portion. The case has a recess portion disposed at an upstream air side of the evaporator, and a covering wall is formed to extend upwardly from the bottom of the recess portion to cover only the lower tank at an immediately upstream air side. When air passes through the evaporator, alien substances contained in air collide with the evaporator and fall to be deposited in the recess portion. Therefore, the deposition of the alien substances do not directly adhere to the lower tank of the evaporator to prevent the evaporator from being corroded.
