Abstract:
The present invention provides an apparatus and method for measuring and/or marking simultaneously the projection dimension and the dropdown dimension of crown molding.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method and apparatus for drawing an instrument across a curve in a surface for constructing an arch. The apparatus comprises a base member having a pivot and a plurality of first indicators and a slidable member having a plurality of second indicators. The slidable member is slidably positionable on the base member. The method comprises pivotably securing the base member to a surface, selecting one of the plurality of first indicators corresponding to the chord height and selecting one of the plurality of second indicators representing the chord height and length of the arch to be scribed. The method further comprises aligning the first and second selected indicators, and rotating the apparatus about the pivot hole so as to draw across an instrument located at a distal end of the slidable member across an arc so as to define the arch.
Abstract:
A distance-transferring device comprising a plurality of interconnected rails. Each rail, when extended, is self-supporting. Once the rails are extended and locked in place between two points, two planes, or one point and one plane, an accurate representation of a distance between the two points, two planes or one point and one plane is obtained. This distance can be transferred to another location without having to memorize a numerical measurement. Opposing abutting angled ends provide for both easy access into corners and a clear visual for when the abutting angled end contacts a plane or mark. A rotating component allows for operating the invention in more than one plane. A movable catch hooks onto an object such as wood moldings to facilitate the measurement transfer without adding any error to the distance being transferred. Extension stops prevent the rails from longitudinal separation. Bubble vials are provided for leveling both horizontally and vertically.
Abstract:
An apparatus for measuring, leveling, securing and plumbing. The apparatus contains a slide element slidably mounted to a body element. The body element is fixed to a base element. The slide element defines a viewing channel for viewing a side level fixed to the body element. The slide element has a pair of longitudinal trapezoidal rails fixed to the back of the slide element and running its length. The body element has a pair of longitudinal trapezoidal channels along the front of the body element. The channels within the body element receive the rails of the slide element to slidably fix the slide element to the body element. The slide element may be moved along the body element to a set position, the apparatus aligned, and the slide element locked into place for measuring or plumbing.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to novel woodworking tool. This tool allows for precise measurements of square ends; square/mitered end combination, and mitered ends. Additionally, this tool can scribe arcs and circles and square up cabinets and other structures. This simple to operate tool will ensure proper measurements for difficult inside and outside dimensions critical for fine woodworking and cabinetry.
Abstract:
An extendable truck height measuring pole comprising a tubular body, one or more telescopic extension members slideably deployable from a stowed position in the telescopic body, a contact member on the distal end of the top most extension member and connected to the extension member by means of a pull-to-release joint. By operating the joint, the contact member may be deployed to a position at right angles with the longitudinal axis of the pole. Alternatively, the contact leg may be moved to a stowed position adjacent and parallel to the pole. Truck height is read from indicia on the extension member or members.
Abstract:
A telescopically adjustable structure capable of defining or measuring an arbitrary three-dimensional volume and having twelve telescopically adjustable telescopic units, capable of maintaining a change in telescopic length and eight corner connection units for assembling the telescopic rods into a three-dimensional structure. A method of assembly may have the telescopic units adjusted to specified length prior to three-dimensional assembly or, alternately, the telescopic units may be assembled in collapsed telescopic form, and adjusted in assembled fashion. Particularly suited to provide a lightweight, low-cost, low-damage furniture or object double to check how the furniture volume might fit in a space or be transported to a space.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a digital tram gauge assembly having an extendible elongate tram bar having a first height rod at a first end and a second height rod at a second end. A digital measuring device is positionable about the tram bar and is capable of digitally sensing, displaying and wirelessly transmitting measurement data from the digital tram gauge. The digital measuring device further includes a digital level sensor that functions as a digital level comparator to indicate whether the tram gauge assembly is oriented substantially parallel to a user-defined reference datum plane.
Abstract:
An extension ruler intended for symmetry measurements of vehicles, having a built in measuring device for the extension of the ruler and transfer of data or figures to a display. The measuring device includes a tape extending from one end of the ruler to the other end where the tape is wound on a drum spring biased in the winding direction, which drum is provided with teeth and that the passage of these is detected and counted by a light source and a photo diode and that the drum rotation detected in this way is used to provide a measure of the extending of the ruler.
Abstract:
A measuring device (20), having an outer base arm (22), an end arm (24), a plurality of intermediate arms (26, 28, 30, 32, 34), and a sequential deployment assembly (36), is utilized to take internal measurements with a high degree of accuracy. The sequential deployment assembly (36) operates to sequentially deploy the arms (24-34) as each arm reaches a fully deployed position. A longitudinal serial of graduations is operatively associated with the arms for an (24-34) operator to read distances therefrom.
