Abstract: System and methods for processing audio signals are disclosed. In one implementation, a system may include a microphone configured to capture sounds from an environment of a user; and at least one processor. The processor may be programmed to receive at least one audio signal representative of the sounds captured by the microphone; transcribe at least a portion of the at least one audio signal into text; generate metadata based on the transcribed text; after receiving the at least one audio signal, receive a request for information associated with a topic; select an information source from a plurality of information sources based on the received request for information; search the selected information source for a word or phrase based on the request; and output the word or phrase for entry into a record associated with the topic.

Abstract: Techniques for providing device functionalities using device components are described. A system receives a system-generated directive from a skill system and determines a workflow to execute. The system implements a response orchestrator that operates based on the workflow that includes interception points where cross-cutting functionalities can be invoked as pluggable components. The interception points occur pre-system-generated directive, pre-device-facing directive, post-device-facing directive generation, post-device-facing directive dispatch, and the like. The system supports asynchronous execution, conditional execution, and sequential execution of components. Data determined by the cross functionality components can be used by other components for processing.

Abstract: Systems and methods for an intelligent collection box are provided. Implementations of the intelligent collection box include a processor, a computer-readable data storage system storing program instructions, a weighing scale, a display, a speaker, a microphone, a network interface, and a power generator. The program instructions, when executed by the processor, cause the intelligent collection box to perform operations including identifying keywords spoken by the user. The operations also include authenticating the user using the keywords. The operations also include determining a request for delivery of an item based on the keywords. The operations also include responding to the request for delivery. The operations also include determining a weight of the item. The operations also include determining delivery options for the item using the weight and using delivery information. The operations also include determining that the item has been received by the collection box.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices are provided for responding to requests received from users in a healthcare facility, and for generating alerts based upon criticality detected in received verbal utterances. A personal assistant device (PAD) may receive a verbal request for information. The identity of the requestor may be verified and a response to the request may be received by the PAD. In some cases, prior to audibly outputting the response, it may be determined whether the response contains protected health information (PHI). Upon determining that the response contains PHI, the presence of persons other than the patient in proximity to the PAD and/or security of the location of the PAD may be evaluated prior to audibly outputting the response. Additionally, alerts having a heightened criticality may be generated when a received verbal utterance is determined to have a heightened criticality.

Abstract: Example techniques involve systems with multiple acoustic echo cancellers. An example implementation captures first audio within an acoustic environment and detecting, within the captured first audio content, a wake-word. In response to the wake-word and before playing an acknowledgement tone, the implementation activates (a) a first sound canceller when one or more speakers are playing back audio content or (b) a second sound canceller when the one or more speakers are idle. In response to the wake-word and after activating either (a) the first sound canceller or (b) the second sound canceller, the implementation outputs the acknowledgement tone via the one or more speakers. The implementation captures second audio within the acoustic environment and cancelling the acoustic echo of the acknowledgement tone from the captured second audio using the activated sound canceller.
