In example embodiments, an indirect group table includes a first group entry that is associated with a first route tree in a software defined network. A failure is detected in the first route tree during a data transmission, and a notification of the failure is sent to a remote controller device, where the remote controller device identifies a second route tree that does not include the failure. After the remote controller device updates the first group entry to be associated with the second route tree, the data transmission is performed using the second route tree.

The method includes generating a directed graph with each of the assets represented as a node, determining individual failure probability of each node, computing downstream failure probability of each node according to an arrangement of the nodes in the directed graph, computing upstream failure probability of each node according to the arrangement of the nodes in directed graph, and computing network failure probability for each node based on the corresponding individual failure probability, the downstream failure probability, and the upstream failure probability. Managing the network is based on the network failure probability of the assets.

Systems and methods are provided for monitoring the performance of a network with respect to providing results for user requests. A user request can correspond to a search query, an entry of a uniform resource locator (URL) or other address for a document on a network, or another type of request. A plurality of user requests are aggregated, such as based on logs of search query or browsing activity. A representative group of user requests is selected and then submitted in order to evaluate the results provided. Based on a heuristic analysis of the results, an alert can be provided to indicate potential performance problems in the network environment.

The method further includes determining a set of problem associated entities, where the set of problem associated entities includes the entities with a common association having a strongest correlation to the set of problematic entities. The method additionally includes classifying the set of problem associated entities on an attribute basis to determine one or more attributes of the entities that contribute to the networked system configuration problem, and reporting the best practices for configuring the networked system of entities as avoiding the one or more attributes of the entities that contribute to the networked system configuration problem.
