    摘要: A solar energy collector structure has been provided which comprises a plurality of at least partially evacuated tubular members arranged in a group and closely packed in parallel axial alignment. The tubular members are joined together to form a tube sheet. A unitary insulating support structure having a recess therein is adapted to receive the tube sheet in tandem therewith, the tube sheet being sealed within the recess of the support structure along respective opposite lateral margins thereof to form a flow channel therebetween. The support structure has headers integrally formed therewith and includes means for providing flow communication with the flow channel. An absorber, disposed behind the tube sheet, in communication with the flow channel, intercepts and absorbs solar energy, which by heat transfer is carried off by a working fluid in heat exchange relation with the absorber.

    摘要: A precast concrete solar collector panel of moldable hardenable material is developed with a serpentine-like passageway disposed in proximity to at least one planar surface of the panel. The passageway serves as a conduit for conveying a fluid to effect a heat transfer intermediate the proximate planar surface of the panel and the fluid rendering the panel useable as a heat collector or as a source of radiant heat, depending upon the relative temperatures between the conveyed fluid and the proximate planar surface. By constructing the panel as a structural member, a plurality of panels can be employed as a roof, exterior building wall, walkway, driveway or fence to receive radiant energy from the sun and transfer the collected heat to the fluid flowing within each of the panels; further panels can be employed as interior walls, ceilings or floors in buildings as sources of radiant heat by passing a heated fluid through the passageways.

    摘要: A heat absorbing window which can receive solar energy and transmit the illumination part of the solar energy, while utilizing the heat part of such energy to provide a source of heat for useful purposes. The window includes a frame with three window panes. The outermost pane faces the exterior and is of non-heat absorbing material. The middle pane is of heat absorbing material, and the innermost pane can be either clear or of absorbing material. The space between the first and middle window panes defines an insulation space therebetween. The space between the middle and the inner window panes defines a fluid chamber wherein a fluid is passed. While in the chamber, the fluid is heated from the heat absorbed by the abutting heat absorbing window panes. The heated fluid is sent to a heat exchanger to extract the heat and provide useful heating purposes.

    摘要: There is disclosed a solar energy collector assembly in which the working media is a liquid circulated through the several tubular collectors in series. The manifold device is of a design that is inexpensive to fabricate for detachably inserting tubular collectors into opposite sides of the liquid manifold. The assembly includes an inlet for liquid to enter an outer tube of the collector and flow in one direction to the end and thereat enter an inner tube and flow in an opposite direction to the other far end of the inner tube, finally transferring to the manifold outlet connected to the next tube or tubes in the series. The receptacles of the manifold for connecting the collector tubes are fabricated from metal stampings and/or castings and surrounded with molded insulation, such as foamed plastic, e.g. polystyrene, polyethylene, polyurethane or the like.

    摘要: A method of heating a liquid and a solar heating panel therefor is disclosed. The method comprises forming one or more obstruction free, longitudinally extending liquid passageways one side of each passageway being formed from a metallic material whereon the outer surface of said metallic material contains a solar radiation heat absorbing coating and each passageway has a width to depth ratio varying between approximately 6.5 to 15 and a mean hydraulic radius varying between approximately 0.018 to 0.027, exposing the solar radiation heat absorbing coating to solar radiation energy, and heating a liquid by passing said liquid through said passageway and simultaneously maintaining a substantially constant cross-sectional area flow path through said passageway. By such means the liquid is accelerated as same flows from one end of said passageway to the other end. The liquid is passed through said passageway while maintaining a laminar or non-turbulent flow therethrough. The width to depth ratio preferably varies between approximately 9 to 13.5 and good results have been obtained where same is equal to approximately 10. The mean hydraulic radius preferably varies between approximately 0.018 to 0.023 and good results have been obtained where same equals approximately 0.023. The solar heating panel comprises a base member having a liquid impervious upper surface, a rigid solar heat absorbing member formed from metal and mounted upon said base member, an inverted cup shaped member formed from a transparent material secured to said base member, an elastic adhesive means for securing said solar heat absorbing member to said liquid impervious upper surface, said adhesive means having flat bonding characteristics over the environmental temperature range in which said panel is to be used whereby thermal expansion of said liquid impervious upper surface relative to thermal expansion of said solar heat absorbing member occurs while maintaining a general planarity of the upper surface of the solar heat absorbing member. The inverted cup shaped member permits solar radiation to pass therethrough and impinge upon the solar radiation heat absorbing coating contained on said solar heat absorbing member for all angles of solar radiation impingement from a direction normal to the upper surface of the solar heat absorbing member plus or minus less than 90.degree.. Said base member includes a plurality of spaced apart fluid supply recesses and preferably a fluid return recess all formed in the liquid impervious upper surface thereof, and a plurality of spaced apart strips, said strips being disposed intermediate each of said recesses and adjacent to the outer side of the outwardly disposed recesses. Said strips are preferably configured whereby said metallic material is spaced above a major portion of the plan surface area of said strip by a predetermined distance.

    摘要: Disclosed is an improved flat plate solar collector module for use in a solar energy utilization system. Each collector has a housing with an evacuated chamber defined therein. A transparent planar wall forms one side of the chamber and a radiant energy absorber with flow passages therein is supported within the chamber thermally insulated from the housing. Heat exchanger flow conduits extend from the absorber and through the housing without contacting the walls of the housing to allow circulation of heat exchange fluid through the absorber with minimal conduction heat losses.
