摘要： A fastener (1) is provided for clamping a first component (25) to a second component (27). The fastener has at least one resiliently deformable snap-fit member (5) which, in use, is inserted from a first side of the components through a channel (29, 31) extending thereacross. The snap-fit (5) member has an abutment surface (7) which, on emerging from the channel (29, 31), enters into snap-fit engagement with an opposing second side of the components to prevent retraction of the snap-fit member (5). The fastener (1) further has a spring arrangement which presses on the first side of the components on the insertion of the snap-fit member (5) to apply a compressive clamping force across the components between the spring arrangement and the abutment surface (7).

摘要： A retention mechanism has a base and a snap ring that are mounted to two components. The snap ring has a hole for attaching a first component. A conical element with a rounded knob protrudes from the snap ring. The base is cylindrical and has a cap with a rounded face and a conical opening that tapers to a cylindrical hole. Both the knob and the base are slit for greater compliance. After the base and snap ring are mounted to their respective components, the snap ring may be removably connected to the base by inserting its knob into the conical opening in the base. The complementary shapes of the snap ring and base allow for significant axial and angular misalignment. The slits allow the snap ring and base to elastically deform. The snap ring and base are disengaged by pulling the snap ring away from the base.

摘要： A positive locking safety latch for use as a secondary latch in ensuring the holding closed of an openable encircling jewelry item such as for the wrist (bracelets or watches), necklaces, anklets and the like, already locked closed by a primary latch. The secondary latch comprises an apertured member hingedly affixed to one end of the item to be latched closed and a post member with an enlarged head affixed to the other end of the item to be closed. The aperture of the apertured member is sized and positioned to be hingedly closely fitted over the enlarged head of the post when the primary latch is engaged. The apertured member further comprises a spring loaded chuck element which extends into the aperture and blocks entry of the enlarged head into the aperture. A retraction control causes retraction of the chuck element whereby the post can be fitted into the aperture. Release of the retraction control causes the chuck to redeploy with spring loaded engagement with the base of the post and with blocking resistance against the enlarged head of the post to prevent accidental disengagement and opening of the safety latch. Alternatively the latch can be used for primary latching with a positioning post which prevents lateral hinging of the latch.
