    摘要: A snowboard binding for securing a snowboard boot to a snowboard. According to one aspect of the invention, the binding comprises a base, a first engagement member that is movably mounted to the base and is adapted to engage a first lateral side of the boot, and a second engagement member that is movably mounted to the base and is adapted to engage a second lateral side of the boot opposite the first lateral side of the boot. According to another aspect of the invention, the snowboard binding includes a high-back leg support mounted to the base. According to a further aspect of the invention, the binding includes a pair of engagement fingers, adapted to engage a lateral side of the boot and including a front engagement finger and a rear engagement finger, the pair of engagement fingers being pivotally mounted to the base for movement between an open position and a closed position, the pair of engagement fingers being mounted so that the rear engagement finger extends a greater distance above the baseplate than the front engagement finger when the engagement fingers are in the open position. In another aspect of the invention, the binding includes an over-center locking mechanism adapted to lock the movable engagement member in the closed position, the locking mechanism including a roller that is mechanically coupled to the movable engagement member and a cammed socket adapted to receive the roller when the movable engagement member is in the closed position.

In one embodiment, the binding system has two active sides, allowing a snowboarder to engage the binding by stepping downwardly onto the binding mechanism, thus reversibly forcing tensioned engaging members between an extended and a retracted position and back to an extended position, thereby securing the snowboarder's boot to the upper surface of a snowboard. A preferred embodiment utilizes positioning keys that properly orientate a snowboarder's boot into binding engagement. Other embodiments include snowboard boots having active binding mechanisms positioned on the boot itself, such mechanisms engageable with static members secured to the surface of a snowboard. One snowboard boot has a calf support member and a reversibly mounted high-back element, as well as a canting system for adjusting angular orientation of a snowboarder's foot position.

The coupling members are releasably secured to the boot with at least one arm that extends from the side of the plate. The coupling member that secures the forward end of the boot may include either a set of jaws, a simple hook, or ridges on the sides of the toe portion.

First and second hinge assemblies pivotally attach the mounting plate to the binding plate. The second hinge assembly also includes two hinge arms, each being pivotally mounted at a first end to the binding plate about the first axis of rotation and pivotally mounted at a second end to the mounting plate about a second axis of rotation. Thus, the binding mechanism permits the binding plate to pivot about the first axis of rotation between a home position and a first rotated position and pivot about the second axis of rotation between the home position and a second rotated position.

A third embodiment includes a front main body and a spring-loaded latch in a rear main body for engaging a one-piece cleat. A fourth embodiment engages a one-piece cleat with inwardly beveled, semi-circular inner and outer main bodies. A fifth embodiment engages a one-piece cleat with a front main body and a latch, fixedly mounted upon an axle, within a rear main body. The latch is biased toward the engaged position by a spring. In a sixth embodiment of the invention, a one-piece cleat is engaged with a front main body and two rear spring biased latches. In a seventh embodiment, among other things, the cleat is formed in two pieces.

The safety binding opens when the transmitted forces exceed a threshold amount. The explosive charge drives a bolt which causes the safety binding to open at a faster rate.
