摘要： A self-stabilizing hoist apparatus for a lifting system is provided for re-positioning articles which, due to their weight and form, are not readily movable manually. The apparatus includes a support section, a collar section, and a plurality of stabilization members. The support section is adapted for securement to the lifting system, and the collar section is coupled to the support section by the plurality of stabilization members which extend therebetween. The collar section is reconfigurable between open and closed configurations and includes a plurality of arm portions each pivotally coupled to at least one other of the arm portions. At least first and second ones of the arm portions terminate at a free end. The collar section in the closed configuration defines a loop slipped about for capturing the article. In the open configuration, free ends of the arm portions are detached from one another to interrupt the loop.

摘要： A hoisting mechanism comprises two main modules; a base (1) and a top-section (8). The base supports two concentric rings (2 and 3) with three or more flexible links (5 and 6) pivotally connected to each ring. There is one inner (6) and one outer (5) set of links, where the inner (6) set is pivotally connected to an inner ring (2) and the outer (5) set is pivotally connected to an outer ring (3). A ring (4) at the top is connected to all of the flexible links with rotary joints (9). When the two rings (2, 3) in the base are rotated in opposite directions, the flexible links (5 and 6) will force the top ring (4) to move up or down depending on the direction of which the concentric rings are turned.

摘要： A stiffener device for use in moving a truss is disclosed. A crane lift cable is attached to a spreader bar. Two lines from the spreader bar attach to the truss to move the truss using a crane. A stiffener body attachable to the truss by brackets allows the stiffener body to hang on the bottom chord of the truss. The stiffener body provides a significantly increased resistance to bending along the length of the truss. This stiffening prevents bending and flexing of the truss which can reduce the numbers of damaged trusses that can occur when setting trusses to a building structure.

摘要： A lifting apparatus and system for lifting cylindrical rolls such as paper rolls is includes a horizontal beam with a gripping component at one end. A pivoting component is pivotally attached to the beam at another point. An engaging component is attached to the beam between the gripping component and the pivoting component and is located proximate the pivoting component. The pivoting component also includes an extension arm for connecting to a lifting mechanism such as a pulley or crane. The lifting apparatus is positioned over a horizontal roll so that the gripping component engages the roll in the center hole or hub. The engaging component grips the edge of the roll, and is securely held in place by the force of the pivoting component when lifting force is applied to the extension arm of the pivoting component. The lifting apparatus also allows easy maneuvering of a roll including mounting the roll in a horizontal or vertical position once the roll has been transported to the proper position.

The upper potion of the container (500) includes a tray or drawer in which are disposed a pair of spaced apart canisters containing liquid refrigerant (CO.sub.2, for example). A gas or liquid feeder tube penetrates each bottle and communicates with an on/off valve. A feeder tube can draw liquid to dispense for cooling, or it can release gas and pressure within the canister to boil the CO.sub.2. When CO.sub.2 reaches its boiling point, the canister, its brackets, and the cold plate reach very cold temperatures to cool the cargo area through conduction. The gas is released through an injection nozzle into the cargo holding area.

The gas is released through copper tubing over the cold plate to act as a method for convection. A temperature regulator valve dispenses CO.sub.2 from the canisters through a header in order to maintain a desired temperature over a wide span of temperatures including, for example sub zero temperatures (-20.degree. F., for example) up to room temperature.

摘要： A lifting device is employed to support a roll of paper wrapped around a core, the lifting device including a flat support plate having an open central portion. A pair of spaced opposed upstanding loops or links are welded by one side to the plate and the loops. Opposed rods welded to the plate guide the core portion over the loops and rods. A continuous woven fabric web or strap, formed with overlapping end portions, is received through the two loops so that the strap can extend up through the core and protrude out of the other end of the core. The rods guide the core into an appropriate seated position on the plate.
