摘要： Apparatus, devices, assemblies, systems and methods of using w spring clips over spikes for holding railroad tie spikes down to wood and concrete railroad ties and hold the spike heads to the rails. A first embodiment can use rail tie plates with box holders for holding end portions of a w shaped spring steel clip to press against cap heads of railroad tie spikes. A second embodiment can use a rail tie plates with vertical supports for horizontal bars over heads of railroad tie spikes. A third embodiment can use rail tie plates with vertical studs and upper threaded ends with flat plates attached by nuts over heads of rail road tie spikes, and with cotter pins locking the nuts in place. Additional embodiments include metal structures fastened, welded and/or forged to tie plates for allowing w shaped spring clips with mid portions that hold down heads on spikes to prevent the spikes from coming out. Additional embodiments can use concave side C-clips, convex side C-clips, double hook C-clips in flat plate and fire form, G-Clips and W-Clips with notches on leg ends. The embodiments can be used with auxiliary plates having welded bars over notch openings to hold down both heads of stakes and footer edges of rails.

摘要： An improved rail anchoring spike that includes a conical swell adapted to engage with a hole in a metal tie plate during fastening of the metal tie plate to a tie. The conical swell has a smaller diameter toward a pointed end of the spike and a larger diameter toward a head of the spike. The smaller diameter is slightly larger than a diameter of a body of the spike. An angle formed by the conical swell relative to a center line passing through a center of the body of the spike matches an angle of the hole in the metal tie plate relative to a center of the hole.

摘要： A method for maintenance of railroad wood ties is presented herein. The wood filler composition used in the method is applicable for filling holes or gaps in wood to stabilize wood structures. The composition comprises at least unintahite, also known as asphaltum or Gilsonite, and sand. The composition may further comprise a water repellant and a wood preservative. The composition is non-carcinogenic. The method comprises filling a hole with the dry composition described herein. The wood member may be a railroad tie and using an appropriate filling device, at least two holes, or at least four holes may be filled at one time.

摘要： A railroad crosstie plug is positioned within an existing spike hole in a crosstie to restore a predetermined gage between parallel railroad rails. The plug comprises a hollow sleeve having a slot along one side thereof and an interior configuration complimentary to the configuration of the spike. A member separate from the sleeve is pivotally mounted at one end to a lower edge of the slot. The member also defines an impact surface extending across a portion of the interior of the sleeve. When a spike is forced into the sleeve against the impact surface, a second end of the member pivots out of the sleeve and into the surrounding wood of the railroad tie there by locking the sleeve and spike in place within the hole.
