    摘要: A trimmable voltage regulator feedback network is arranged as a voltage divider: series-connected resistors are connected between the divider tap and the regulator's output voltage and a fixed resistance is connected between the tap and ground. Severable links are connected across at least two resistors above the tap to allow the regulator output voltage to be trimmed in linearly independent increments with each severed link, thereby simplifying the task of determining which links to sever to attain a desired output voltage. A trimmable resistance is inserted between the divider tap and the circuit being driven to enable the impedance of the network to be adjusted. A regulator including the novel feedback network can provide a temperature-compensated output over the full range of selectable output voltages.

    摘要: An overcurrent detection circuit detects an overcurrent in a current path accurately and sensitively. The overcurrent detection circuit includes a first resistance element connected between first input and output terminals of the current path; a second resistance element connected to the first input terminal; a differential amplifying device connected to the first output terminal and the second resistance element; and a proportional-current output device connected to the second resistance element in series and to an output terminal of the differential amplifying device. The proportional-current output device receives an output signal from the differential amplifying device to output a proportional current with a magnitude proportional to a current flowing through the first resistance element. A current monitor device is connected to the proportional-current output device for monitoring the proportional current outputted from the proportional-current output device to detect an overcurrent flowing through the first resistance element.

    摘要: The preferred embodiment voltage regulator exhibits improved stability by offsetting changes in the output impedance of the regulator due to changes in load current. This compensation occurs virtually instantaneously with a change in load current. This enables an output capacitor to be selected primarily based upon filtering requirements rather than on frequency compensation requirements. Also in the preferred embodiment, a depletion mode pass transistor is used as the output transistor. A PMOS transistor on/off switch is connected between the source of the pass transistor and the output terminal of the regulator to effectively turn the regulator on or off without shutting down the depletion mode pass transistor. This avoids the need to form a negative supply voltage generator. An improved band gap voltage reference generator is also described which introduces a beta correction factor into the output voltage which offsets changes in beta due to process variations and other conditions. Thus, the output voltage of the reference generator is not affected by variations in the beta of transistors forming the reference generator.

    摘要: A voltage control regulator features a power switch in the form of a transistor that is normally actuated for a constant switch-on time interval during each variable period interval (T). The type of control required in this case comprises, conventionally, a monostable multivibrator, a controller, and a voltage/frequency converter. The present control system is subordinated to an emergency control circuit which, via a priority loop, intervenes in the control process as soon as the current flowing through the switching transistor threatens to become excessive. This emergency control unit thus constitutes a predictive type of control that employs knowledge of the operation of the voltage control regulator and the instantaneous values of the input and output voltages of the voltage control regulator, in order to predict the voltage increase during the period interval (T). Such an arrangement permits the emergency control unit to react very quickly.
