摘要: An apparatus for suturing tissue. The apparatus comprises shaft mounted jaw mechanism and a housing (containing mechanical components) mounted on the proximal portion of the shaft. The jaw mechanism comprises two pivoting jaws, each with reversibly lockable needle end openings, each configured to receive and exchange a curved needle and attached suture between the jaws in response to force applied to control mechanisms on the housing. The jaw mechanisms are controlled by locking rods and a jaw open-shut control rod that extends between the jaws and the housing. The housing contains spring loaded click cam mechanisms, often comprising a dual hollow cylindrical cam inner piston cam arrangement. The apparatus is configured so that a human operator, exerting force on the same control mechanism, can both open and shut the jaws and cause the needle to be exchanged between jaws.

摘要: The present disclosure relates to devices, systems and methods for endoscopic suturing or stitching through an access tube or the like. An endoscopic stitching device is provided and includes a handle assembly; an elongate shaft supported by and extending from the handle assembly; and an end effector supported on a distal end of the elongate shaft. The end effector includes a neck assembly configured and adapted for articulation in one direction between a substantially linear configuration and an off-axis configuration, and a pair of juxtaposed jaws pivotally associated with one another. Each jaw defines a suture needle receiving recess formed in a tissue contacting surface thereof.

摘要: A needle removal device is provided for removing needles from suturing devices and/or systems. In an embodiment, the needle removal device may be intended for use with a suturing device having one or more needle lumens. The needle removal device may include a first member having a first plurality of needle receptacles extending therethrough. The first needle receptacles may be configured and positioned to correspond to one or more of the one or more needle lumens of the suturing device. The needle removal device may also include a second member having a second plurality of needle receptacles extending therethrough. At least one of the first member or the second member may be moveable between a first position, wherein the first needle receptacles and the second needle receptacles are substantially aligned, and a second position, wherein the first needle receptacles and the second needle receptacles substantially unaligned.

摘要: An apparatus includes a handle, a cartridge configured to removably couple to the handle, an actuator movably coupled to the handle, and a lock operably coupled to the actuator. A first needle assembly and a second needle assembly of the cartridge are operably coupled to a first coupling portion and a second coupling portion, respectively, of the actuator when the cartridge is coupled to the handle. The first coupling portion is configured to transition the first needle assembly from a first configuration to a second configuration such that a first capture portion engages a first needle. The second coupling portion is configured to transition the second needle assembly from a first configuration to a second configuration such that a second capture portion engages the second needle. The lock is configured to selectively limit movement of the first coupling portion and the second coupling portion.

摘要: The present invention contemplates a hand-held and hand-operable stitching device capable of securely placing a single interrupted suture through a wound using sterile suturing material with a single squeeze of the device's arms. Operating substantially faster than a surgeon, the compact and lightweight device employs an intuitive stapler-like structure and a center assembly capable of closing a wound with traditional suturing material secured by anchors that remain on either side of the wound. The apparatus employs needle-suture units stored in a center assembly and deployed individually when the device is actuated. When actuated, an epicyclic gear train within a center assembly causes a needle-suture unit to rotate through a circular path through the tissue, bringing the edges of separated tissue together. The suture thread is then secured in its position with anchors and the needle is then disjointed from the suture thread with a blade.

摘要: An apparatus and method for minimally invasive suturing is disclosed. A suturing device for minimally invasive suturing includes proximal section having a proximal end, a distal end, and a longitudinal axis therebetween, a suture head assembly extending from the distal end of the proximal section; a suturing needle having a pointed end and a blunt end, the suturing needle capable of rotating about an axis approximately perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the proximal section, wherein the pointed end of the suturing needle is positioned within the suture head assembly prior to and after rotation of the suturing needle, and an actuator extending from the proximal end of the proximal section to actuate a reciprocating needle drive having a needle driver for engaging and rotating the suturing needle.
