    摘要: A vascular closure device seals a vascular access site upon completion of a procedure wherein a blood vessel has been punctured to accommodate a guidewire, an introducer sheath, and other intravascular devices. The device uses compression and thermal heating of an area around the puncture to obtain immediate hemostasis. Electrothermal bipolar vessel sealing is preferably employed, wherein a forceps grasps and compresses tissue from opposite sides of the puncture and then applies a high-frequency alternating electric current to cause the vessel wall between the forceps to denature and seal.

    摘要: A knot may be formed in suture material using a device having an elongated body with a longitudinal axis and a holder. A rail portion of the suture material is secured with a first grasper on the elongated body and a non-rail portion of the suture material is secured with a second grasper on the holder. A plurality of helical windings may be created with the non-rail portion. Detaching the holder from the elongated body in a motion away from the longitudinal axis of the elongated body completes the knot. The holder may be wrapped around the elongated body in a knot-forming pattern.

The dilator engagement portion is configured to engage the sheath engagement portion such that axial displacement of the dilator relative to the sheath causes the sheath to rotate relative to the housing, and wherein the housing is configured to inhibit axial displacement of the sheath during rotation.

    摘要: Excess suture material may be trimmed after knot tying using a device having an elongated shaft, an elongated tubular cutter disposed over the shaft and an elongated tubular barrel disposed over the cutter. A suture loader at a distal end of the shaft that engages suture material may be opened and closed by a first actuator that causes relative motion between the shaft and the barrel. A second actuator may cause relative motion between the cutter and both of the barrel and the shaft to sever suture material engaged by the closed suture loader.
