    摘要: A covered air scoop for a gas turbine combustor comprising a tubular member radially extending through the combustor shell to define an air inlet. A symmetrical cap member is disposed in spaced, overhanging relationship over the inlet. To enter the combustor, the air must flow into the cap member, thereby causing all air to enter the tube in a substantially uniform manner so that the air flow through all similarly constructed air tubes at a common axial location of the combustor is substantially equal at all times.

    摘要: Apparatus for burning gaseous and liquid fuels in a furnace, to retard formation of NO.sub.x, comprising a fuel tube of selected length and diameter, closed at the end which is inserted into a combustion zone. There are a plurality of ports drilled in the closed end of the fuel tube, the axes of which lie on a conical surface coaxial with the fuel tube. The fuel tube is inserted coaxially into a burner tube of selected larger diameter, and the distant ends are substantially coplanar. A plurality of jets of low pressure steam are injected through a plurality of ports into the annular space between the fuel tube and the burner tube at the outer end of the burner tube. The steam jets flowing through the ports induce a flow of primary combustion air, which mixes with the steam and flows down the annular space to mix with the high velocity jets of fuel as they emerge from the ports on the fuel tube. The fuel, air, and steam mix together prior to entering the combustion reaction zone.

    摘要: Disclosed is a burner for liquid fuels which includes a combustion tube having an inner surface defining a combustion chamber, an end bell which mounts a nozzle for introducing the liquid fuel into the combustion chamber in the form of a fine spray, and an auxiliary air introduction means, also mounted to the end bell, which produces an auxiliary vortex flow of air around and concentric with the nozzle so as to entrain the fine spray of liquid fuel and form a fuel-air mixture. Means are provided for igniting the fuel-air mixture, and a main air introduction means is provided for producing a main vortex flow of air which serves to separate the fuel-air mixture from the inner surface of the combustion tube and to provide additional air for combustion of the fuel-air mixture. A collar means, preferably of a refractory material, is provided concentric with the nozzle. The collar means controls combustion of the fuel-air mixture by controlling the manner in which the fuel-air mixture is transported into the combustion chamber and the rate at which the fuel-air mixture mixes with the main vortex flow of air.A baffle may be provided within the combustion chamber to further assist in effecting complete and clean combustion of the fuel-air mixture. In certain embodiments of the invention, the baffle takes the form of a right circular cylinder of a refractory material, the cylinder having an interior aperture in the shape of a cloverleaf.

    摘要: A compact, relatively midget sized, portable heater a stable base for which is provided by its fuel tank per se. The tank features a plug fit filter tube formed to facilitate the connection of a fuel supply line. Preferred embodiments of the heater are characterized by plate formed air deflector fins which are arranged to most effectively control the delivery of air to and about the discharge from a simply mounted and constructed fuel nozzle at the entrance to a combustion chamber. The illustrated embodiment shows the fins as included in a bracket-type support for the fuel discharge nozzle and on a deflector plate which defines the entrance to the combustion chamber to which it mounts. The relationship of parts enable the use of a minimal amount of energy for a given application.

    摘要: A combustion liner for a gas turbine combustion apparatus or the like has a head wall and a side wall extending downstream to an outlet for combustion products. A reaction zone is contained within the upstream end of the side wall and a dilution zone downstream. A barrier ring extends inwardly from the side wall to provide a constricted path between the zones. Combustion air is admitted from a cluster of nozzles in the head wall and a ring of nozzles extending forwardly from the side wall. Each nozzle in the head wall is axially aligned with one of the nozzles in the side wall so that air jets entering into the combustion zone through each such pair of nozzles impinge to create a high degree of turbulence. Fuel is jetted against a spatter plate in each nozzle in the head wall so that the fuel is atomized and entrained by the air flowing through the head wall air nozzle.
