    摘要: The improved blowout preventer ram tail rod locking device of the present invention includes a housing, a body movable in the housing, having a threaded rod and coacting with the outer end of the ram tail rod to lock it in the ram closed position, a nut rotatably mounted within said housing, having ractchet teeth and engaging the threads onthe threaded rod, a braking piston slidably mounted within said housing and having ratchet teeth engaging withthe ratchet teeth of the nut, the ratchet teeth on said nut and piston allowing freedom of rotation of the nut during movement of the body into engagement with the ram tail road and preventing rotation of the nut in the opposite direction, and menas for exerting pressure on said braking piston to disengage the racthet teeth during retracting movement of the wedge.

    摘要: A low-noise valve has a body with a fluid inlet to receive pressurized fluid, an oulet and a fluid passageway extending between the inlet and outlet. Located in the passageway are a number of spaced throats. The valve also includes a movable stem with a number of plugs each adapted to be closely received by a corresponding throat. Each plug includes a plurality of circumferential alternating grooves and lands, the lands being closely spaced within the throats to create a plurality of flow restrictions each incrementally restricting fluid flow when the stem is at a minimum flow position. Movement of the stem toward a full open position sequentially removes the lands from the throat to reduce restriction of said fluid flow in stages.

    摘要: The present invention relates to an improved caisson structure which is adapted to support a production platform above the water and has its base on bottom and has a foot print or base which will pass through the drilling slot of a jackup rig. The caisson structure includes a large diameter caisson supported in a base structure including at least three base columns through which piling is placed and bracing extending between the columns and the caisson, a platform supported at the upper end of the caisson with production tubing and its casing extending upward through the caisson, and where desired, filled with concrete surrounding the casing within the caisson. The improved caisson structure can be used to surround and support an existing conductor pipe extending from a subsea wellhead to the surface or to surround a wellhead at the surface and the conductor which extends to such wellhead from a subsea well bore. The improved method of setting the caisson structure includes lifting the structure from a barge and lowering to position its base in engagement with the sea bottom in the desired location, piling is placed in and set through the corner columns, the wells are drilled through the caisson, the production strings are set and the wellhead production equipment are installed on the productions strings at the platform. The piling is steel tubular members which can be cut below the sea bottom to recover the caisson structure after the wells are plugged. The caisson structure after retrieval can be reused in a different location merely by adapting its length to be suitable for the water depth in the new location.

    摘要: An improved repair connector for a subsea tubular member and the method of making such repair. The improved repair connector includes a annular housing and an annular guide, said annular housing having internal grooves filled with pressure compensating material, a concave recess having serrations therein, a rib having a downwardly facing shoulder on the interior of said housing, threads on the upper interior of said housing for receiving a string, and means carried by said guide for sealing against the exterior of a string on which the connector is to be installed. Also, a band of brittle material is positioned within a groove in the exterior of the housing which generates a noise upon the deformation of the housing responsive to completion of the forming of the tubular member therein. The method of connecting the improved connector includes the steps of preparing the casing at a level below the defect, lowering the improved connector into engagement with the upper end of the prepared casing within the well bore, exerting deforming pressure within the upper end of the casing to deform the casing into sealing engagement within the internal grooves in the connector, and releasing and recovering the means generating the deforming pressure.
