    摘要: A multiple frequency continuous wave radar in which two Doppler signals derived from different transmitted frequencies are multiplied together and the product signal, after integration, controls a waveform generator which switches the transmitted frequency. The difference between the transmitted frequency is controlled to render the Doppler signals in quadrature and a range indicator responds universely to the frequency difference. Another Doppler signal is multiplied with one of the first two in a circuit which corrects ambiguity.

    摘要: In a phase comparison radio navigation system in which a receiver may be operated with signals from a number of different chains of transmitting stations, each chain using radiations on a number of different harmonics nf of a common fundamental frequency f, the different chains using different fundamental frequencies, the receiver is provided with an oscillator and divider chain feeding a syntheizer matrix to form a frequency syntheizer to provide heterodyne signals of frequency n Delta for changing the frequencies of the received signals from harmonics of f to harmonics of F where F a fixed frequency used in the receiver for all chains. This oscillator and divider chain also provides timing signals for effecting a digital phase comparison between multiple frequency signals radiated in turn for short periods from the various stations to provide lane identification (for resolving ambiguities in the much more highly accurate but ambiguous normal position line determination).

    摘要: In a receiver for a phase comparison radio navigation system, signals of the fifth, sixth, eighth and ninth harmonics of a fundamental are received from different spaced transmitting stations and compared in phase in pairs at their least common multiple frequencies and in which a phase comparison is made between signals from the same pairs of stations at the fundamental frequency to obtain coarser but less ambiguous positional information, the fundamental frequency comparisons are effected digitally measuring the time intervals corresponding to the phase relationships. These time intervals are measured using divided down frequencies from a single clock source, the clock frequency division factors being different for the different pairs of stations so that the counts are proportional to the least common multiple frequencies.

    摘要: A rotatable insulating disc carries a closed grid of conductors over one part of one side and a similar but open grid over another part. An oscillator is coupled to a coil which is parallel to the disc and produces a cyclically varying but symmetrical field through the disc. Two pairs of pick-up coils sense, for respective orthogonal directions, the distortion of the field by the closed grid and detector circuits coupled to the pick-up coils provide signals representing the sine and cosine of the angular position of the disc which may carry a compass needle.

    摘要: A rudder positioning unit for the steering systems of ships serves to position the rudder at an angle proportional to a rudder positioning signal received by the unit, and comprises a balance circuit having a balance signal output controlling start and stop of the steering gear of the ship, said balance circuit having inputs for the rudder positioning signal and for a feedback signal from a steering gear simulator, that is started and stopped simultaneously with the steering gear and is capable of simulating the movement of the steering gear, but at a smaller time lag than the latter or practically no time lag at all, preferably in the form of an electrical voltage. Means are provided for continuously effecting slow synchronization of the simulator with the steering gear, and for effecting quick synchronization on occurrence of a predetermined deviation between the simulator and the steering gear. A preferred form of a steering gear simulator is an electronic integrator circuit.
