摘要: A framing system is disclosed which includes a frame member and a slide on cover. The frame member has an interior portion, an exterior portion, and at least one glazing pocket defined between the interior and exterior portions, the glazing pocket being configured to receive a lateral edge of a glazing panel therewithin. The cover is configured to engage the exterior portion of the frame member and has a gasket mounting means thereon configured to engage a glazing gasket for bearing against an exterior marginal edge of a glazing panel received within the glazing pocket. When a glazing gasket engages the gasket mounting means and bears against an exterior marginal edge of a glazing panel received within the glazing pocket, it exerts an outward force on the cover which biases the cover into snug engagement with the exterior portion of the frame member so as to secure the cover with respect to the frame member.

摘要: A retainer and weatherseal for structurally bonded glazing, which includes an elongate retainer profile having a generally H-shaped transverse cross section, thereby forming a pair of elongate U-shaped retaining channels; and securing device for securing the profile coextensively along a curtainwall framing member, such that one side of the pair of retaining channels is urged against the framing member. The retainer may be in combination with a curtainwall framing member, which includes a framing member having securing device longitudinally along the outward face of the framing member, for receiving the securing device and which are reciprocally configured, the retainer being secured to the framing member with the securing device interlocked in the securing device. The retainer and framing member combination are utilized in a curtainwall framing system having structurally bonded glazing wherein each of the intermediate vertical framing members of the system include the retainer and framing member.

摘要: A heat insulated entrance includes a door/window having a frame comprising an elongated, tubular, metal member having an inside wall and a wall transverse thereto with a rib formed adjacent a corner at the intersection of the walls. An elongated metal cladding member having a generally channel shaped transverse cross section with a web forming an inside wall face of the door/window and a pair of edge flanges transverse thereto is secured in place on the tubular metal member by a spacer formed of heat insulating material and having one edge in supported engagement with the rib of the tubular frame member. The cladding member has an opposite edge in keyed interengaging relation with an opposite edge of the spacer to complete an insulated frame member assembly having a thermally insulating spacer element between a pair of inside and outside metal portions. The door/window is useful in combination with a heat insulating wall frame system providing a jamb surface, header and sill forming an opening in which the door/window is mounted. The invention also encompasses the conversion of existing, non-insulating type doors/windows into more efficient, heat insulating type, closure members by the addition of insulating spacers and inside metal cladding members in accordance with the invention.

摘要: A new and improved method and apparatus for replacing old windows in an existing building with new windows and surrounding trim comprises the use of elongated, especially designed trim elements which are cut to length and assembled onto the replacement window frame to trim the periphery thereof. The replacement window frame with the peripheral trim elements bodily attached thereto is then mounted in the opening in the building wall structure to replace an old deteriorated window previously removed therefrom. The novel method of assembly and installation guarantees a good fit between the trim elements and the window frame, and permits the critical seal between the trim elements and the window frame to be formed at a convenient location during the assembly of the trim elements onto the window rather than requiring a trim seal to be effected after the window is installed in the building.

摘要: A solar energy concentrator comprises an elongated, linear collector for receiving concentrated solar energy, mounted to extend longitudinally in an East-West direction and spaced above a supporting surface. An array of separate, elongated solar energy reflectors are provided for reflecting received solar energy upwardly and focusing the same along the collector. The reflectors are mounted in parallel, elongated rows, parallel of the collector and at a level below the same. The reflectors are aligned coaxially in end to end relation in rows and are formed into modular columns transverse or normal to the collector. Each reflector is mounted in a support for individual pivotal movement about a longitudinal axis parallel of the collector and a novel drive system is provided for interconnecting the supports and pivoting the same in unison to substantially continuously reflect the received solar energy in a focused manner on the collector as the angle of elevation of the sun's rays is changed during the day.

摘要: There is provided an improved wall construction including a vertical mullion and a horizontal member. The horizontal member is provided with longitudinally extending screw splines. The members may be assembled in the known shear block method, or in a known screw spline system, or further in accordance with the present invention the members may be assembled in accordance with an improved shear pin system. The shear pin system employs a shear pin which joins the horizontal members to the vertical mullions. The vertical mullion is prepared for the attachment of a horizontal member by forming holes to receive the head of a shear pin, and the horizontal member is prepared by the insertion of the shear pins into screw splines formed in the horizontal member. The horizontal member is then installed on the vertical by installing the head of the shear pin into the hole previously drilled in the vertical mullion, and then tapping the horizontal downward until the shear pins bottom in the holes.
