    摘要: A method of reducing bit error rate in a PAM4 clock data recovery circuit is described. The method includes determining a first target value of a slicing level, sweeping down from an upper voltage threshold to determine a first reference voltage value, and detecting a first filtered analog output associated with the first reference voltage value. The method also includes sweeping up from a lower voltage threshold to determine a second reference voltage value and detecting a second filtered analog output associated with the second reference voltage value. The first reference voltage value and the second reference voltage value are averaged to determine a calculated threshold value.

    摘要: A laser driver chipset for providing a signal to a laser diode is described. The laser driver chipset has a variable gain amplifier (VGA) circuit and a laser driver circuit. The VGA circuit is configured to receive an input signal having a variable swing amplitude and modulate it to produce a fixed swing amplitude. The laser driver circuit is configured to receive a VGA output signal from the VGA circuit and generate a linear output response to the input signal such that it provides an output current to drive the laser diode. The VGA circuit can comprise a first loop for biasing the direct current level to a target direct current level and a second loop for modulating the variable swing amplitude of the input signal to produce a fixed swing amplitude.

    摘要: In a system for calibrating PAM4 signals, an equalizer determines a first signal amplitude measurement of the PAM4 signal. The equalizer determines a first signal boost measurement of the PAM4 signal. The equalizer determines whether the first signal boost measurement and the signal amplitude measurement are substantially consistent with each other. Responsive to determining that the signal boost and the signal amplitude are not substantially consistent with each other, the equalizer determines a reference amplification modification and calibrates a PAM4 signal according to the determined reference amplification modification.
