摘要: An apparatus includes a photodetector configured to generate an electrical current based on received illumination. The apparatus also includes a capacitor transimpedance amplifier (CTIA) unit cell having (i) an amplifier configured to receive the electrical current and a first reference voltage and generate a pre-integration voltage, (ii) a feedback capacitor coupled in parallel across the amplifier, (iii) a reset switch coupled in parallel across the feedback capacitor, and (iv) a coupling capacitor coupled to an output of the amplifier and configured to receive the pre-integration voltage and generate an integration voltage. The apparatus further includes a comparator configured to compare the pre-integration voltage and a second reference voltage, where generation of the integration voltage is modifiable based on the comparison.

摘要: Embodiments of this application disclose a trans-impedance amplifier and a trans-impedance amplifier control method that are used in the field of circuit technologies. A trans-impedance amplifier TIA includes an inverting amplification circuit and a voltage clamping circuit. The inverting amplification circuit is connected in parallel to the voltage clamping circuit. The inverting amplification circuit includes a first PMOS transistor and a first NMOS transistor that have a common gate. A source of the first PMOS transistor is connected to a drain of the first NMOS transistor. The voltage clamping circuit includes a second PMOS transistor and a second NMOS transistor that have a common gate. Gates of the two transistors are connected to an input end of the TIA. A source of the second NMOS transistor and a drain of the second PMOS transistor are connected to an output end of the TIA.

摘要: A high-speed transimpedance amplifier with bandwidth extension feature over full temperature range and bandwidth extension method belong to the field of integrated circuit. The present invention solves the problem existed in boosting core amplifier bandwidth technology over full temperature range. The present invention includes a preamplifier TIA, a phase splitting stage PS, a pre-driver stage Pre-Drive, an output buffer BUFF and an offset cancelation circuit OC. The preamplifier TIA adopts the gate-drain voltage cancelation technology to expand the bandwidth, so that its −3 dB bandwidth is greater than twice the closed-loop bandwidth of the first-order TIA. The pre-driver stage Pre-Drive is used to drive the output buffer BUFF. By adjusting the source-level negative feedback capacitance value of the pre-driver stage Pre-Drive circuit to generate a high-frequency gain that varies with temperature, the preamplifier TIA bandwidth differences under different temperature conditions are compensated.

摘要: Mechanisms for evaluating amplitude for current pulses provided to a transimpedance amplifier (TIA) for current levels beyond the linear range of the TIA where clipping circuit(s) may limit the input voltage of the TIA are disclosed. In one aspect, an example TIA arrangement includes a clipping arrangement that includes multiple clipping circuits. Each clipping circuit can be biased by different bias voltages such that the different clipping circuits are activated at different input current amplitudes. Different clipping circuits can have different impedances, which can result in different recovery time characteristics. With the multiple clipping circuits in clipping arrangements discussed herein, a saturated dynamic range of a TIA can be divided into sub-regions and different pulse widening characteristics for each region may be defined, which may enable determination of amplitude for current pulses provided to the TIA even for current levels beyond the linear range of the TIA.
