摘要: The invention provides electroluminescent phosphor having superior luminance and a long life. The host material is ZnS.aAO, of which nullAnull is at least one element selected from among magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca), strontium (Sr), and barium (Ba). nullanull ranges from 0.001 to 0.01. Either one of or both copper (Cu) or manganese (Mn) is contained as an activator. At least one element selected from among chlorine (Cl), bromine (Br), iodine (I), and aluminum (Al) is contained as a co-activator. The luminance and life span of the electroluminescent phosphor can be increased by limiting nullanull, which represents the proportion of alkaline earth metal oxide (AO) introduced into the zinc sulfide, within the range of 0.001 to 0.01.

摘要: The invention intends to measure true distribution of a radioactive nuclide in respective parts of a subject. A density of each part of a subject sample is measured by measuring the intensity of ionizing radiation for density measurement from a radioactive nuclide for density measurement, which emits the ionizing radiation to each part of the subject sample in the same amount, through the subject sample interposed midway, the intensity of ionizing radiation emitted from another radioactive nuclide existing in each part of the subject sample is measured, and the amount of another radioactive nuclide in each part of the subject sample is determined by compensating the measured intensity of the ionizing radiation from another radioactive nuclide based on the self-absorptivity of each part of the subject sample corresponding to the density thereof.

摘要: A method of manufacturing a luminous sheet according to the present invention enables a planar display unit radiating fluorescence upon irradiation of ultraviolet rays to be easily offered. A ability of radiating fluorescence is also increased. To this end, an ultraviolet-excited luminous material is applied and dried over a film-like base sheet 10 to form a light emitting layer 20, and a resin solution is applied and dried over an upper surface of the light-emitting layer to form a back layer 40. After thus forming the light-emitting layer 20 and the back layer 40 into a one-piece body, the base sheet 10 is peeled off from the light-emitting layer 20. The specific gravity of the fluorescent material is selected to be three times or more the specific gravity of the resin solution used for forming the ultraviolet-excited luminous material.

摘要: An information reading method includes the steps of irradiating a phosphor activated by neodymium and ytterbium ions with exciting light of a wavelength between 500 nm and 780 nm that can excite the neodymium ions, and reading the information by receiving the light emitted from the phosphor with a photodetector designed to detect light with wavelengths between 840 m and 1100 nm. Consequently, the information recorded using the phosphor activated by neodymium and ytterbium ions can be read with a high performance without using a filter for cutting the exciting light.

摘要: A colony counting apparatus includes a reading unit with a visual sensor incorporated therein. The presence of a colony is detected at the end of that colony by moving the reading unit along lines selected at an appropriate pitch and by reading data on the individual points set along each line as logical high or low signals. The values obtained in the above-described counting operation are added and stored in an addition/storage device in a CPU, and the results of addition which are stored in the addition/storage device are output to a suitable display by an outputting device when the counting operation is completed.
