From the outlet, a trough conveys the treated pig iron to a flue with an overflow edge located at a level above the bottom surface of the outlet. The flue is arranged to separate the pig iron from the spent desulfurizing agent.

    摘要: A method for joining the electrodes for electroslag remelting comprises arranging the electrodes in a feeding position in which they are fed downwardly one above the other relative to an ingot to be remelted and welding at least the core regions of the two electrodes together by subjecting them to currents of high intensity. An electrode feeding device comprises a vertical stand with first and second electrode holders on the stand which are independently vertically movable thereon. Each holder is insulated from the associated stand and from each other and from ground and it is provided with clamping means for clamping an electrode in a position in which its axis extends substantially vertically above the ingot to be remelted. During operation, the holders are moved vertically such that the electrode held by the uppermost holder is positioned into abutting contact with the top of the electrode held by the lowermost holder. The apparatus also advantageously includes a centering, packing and insulating ring which surrounds the space between the two abutting electrodes and which may advantageously be made with a funnel-shaped upper portion which may be filled with a slag.

    摘要: A water-cooled sliding mold for the electro slag remelting of a billet with a slag layer covering the billet is made of a relatively large cross section tubular member which includes an upper part having substantially smooth constant cross section, a middle part having a substantially smooth downwardly diminishing cross section and a lower part having an irregular cross section which includes inwardly extending portions at spaced locations around the periphery which extend below the smallest cross section of the middle part. The construction is such that the slag becomes separated from the metal at the beginning of the inwardly extending portion of the lower part of the mold. The lower part advantageously includes a wave-like formation which projects into the mold interior which act to crush the slag shell and the slag fragments fall down off the mold. The cooling of the billet and the removal of the slag particles is also improved by circulating a cooling medium in the lower part of the mold.

    摘要: A dual axle drive for rail vehicles, having a pair of axles supported in a truck frame and each carrying a pair of wheels, includes a driving motor unit oriented in the direction of travel and driving the wheels through angle transmissions connected to opposite ends of the motor unit. The motor unit and the angle transmissions are separately supported from the truck frame, and each angle transmission includes a torque tube enclosing the central portion of an axle. Resilient torsional couplings connect each transmission to a respective opposite end of the motor unit. Torque tubes are provided on each axle, each enclosing the axle with clearance and each extending between the transmission torque tube and the adjacent wheel. Compensation couplings connect one end of each of these torque tubes to the transmission torque tube and the other end thereof to a wheel. The compensation couplings may be designed as torsion-resistant steel plate couplings and may connect either the web or a hub bushing flange of a wheel to the adjacent torque tube end. Braking devices are arranged on the input shafts of the angle transmissions.
