摘要： A variable doorstop selectively determines the opening distance of an access door of a merchandising machine, the access door being mounted in channels of the merchandising machine to be slidable between an open position wherein the access door permits access to a compartment aligned therewith and a closed position wherein access to the compartment is restricted. The doorstop comprises a hinge assembly including at least one hinge. Each hinge has a backing plate for mounting the hinge on the merchandising machine and at least one abutment plate. The at least one abutment plate is rotatable about a pin of the hinge to selectively pivot the abutment plate from a non-engagement position in which the abutment plate is positioned away from the path of the access door to an engagement position in which the abutment plate is in the path of the access door. The abutment plate in the engagement position establishes the open position by restricting the access door from sliding further along the channels past the abutment plate in the engagement position as the access door is slid from the closed position to the open position.

摘要： A mixing device and overflow evacuation system for a vending machine which is capable of mixing a predetermined portion of dry ingredients with a liquid and vending the resultant mixture. The mixing bowl is generally conically shaped and open at its upper end with an annular cap covering the upper end with a central opening which permits the dry ingredient to be dispensed into the mixing bowl therethrough. The liquid is injected so as to cause the liquid to move in a generally spiral path around the mixing bowl and the dry ingredient is injected into the path of the liquid so that the two are mixed. The mixing bowl is provided with baffles in the lower portion thereof which break up the flow and cause the mixture to pass through an outlet spout. The evacuation system includes a vacuum tube connected to the upper portions of each of the mixing bowls to remove steam therefrom when hot liquids are being used. In the case of a clogged mixing bowl, the overflow system will remove the liquid and transport it to a catch basin to prevent an overflow of the liquid in the machine.

摘要： The present invention includes a system and a method for attaching the end of a tube of a plastically deformable material such as titanium to a hard metal fitting in a manner that can provide the resulting tube joint with increased strength and fatigue resistance. In the method the tube and fitting are assembled by inserting the tube into the end of a bore in the fitting. A radial force is exerted against a predetermined axial length of the tube wall, and thus also against the fitting, to plastically deform the tube wall radially into plural, axially spaced, circumferential grooves in the fitting bore. While this radial force is being exerted, a die restrains the fitting, causing it to deform elastically more near the end of the fitting bore than near the end of the tube. In the resulting tube joint the fitting applies residual circumferential stresses to the tube that are larger near the end of the fitting bore, and this stress distribution increases the fatigue resistance of the tube joint.

摘要： An auxiliary dispenser for a merchandise vending machine of the type comprising a cabinet, a delivery bin at the front of the cabinet, near the bottom, and a merchandise dispensing apparatus in the cabinet above the bin for dispensing merchandise to the bin, the dispenser adapted to be mounted behind the bin, below the dispensing apparatus. The dispenser comprises a bank of at least one generally inverted-J shaped magazine for holding articles. The bank is preferably pivotally mounted at its upper end to pivot upwardly to facilitate filling. Each magazine has a generally vertically extending straight portion and a forwardly extending curved dispensing portion. A spring-biased guide member urges articles in the magazine upwardly toward the curved dispensing portion, the guide member can be releasably locked at the end of the magazine to facilitate filling. An ejector member is mounted for reciprocal motion generally transverse to the magazine to push an article upwardly out an opening in the top of the magazine. The ejector member is connected with a linkage to an eccentric drive member on a motor to reciprocate. The ejector member may be provided with a gripping surface to pull articles displaced when another article is ejected back into the magazine.

摘要： A coffee bean delivery and grinding system for producing a charge of ground coffee comprising a bin and hopper for storing coffee beans, an auger being at least partially disposed in the bottom of the hopper, and a grinder having grinding wheels driven by a grinder motor. An auger motor is connected to one end of the auger for turning the auger to convey coffee beans from the hopper to the grinder. A control mechanism is provided for operating the grinder motor and the auger motor during the cycle of operation of the system. The end of the auger opposite the motor is located generally in an opening in the grinder housing such that the end of the auger is adjacent the grinding wheels for feeding coffee beans to the grinding wheels upon initiation of rotation of the auger.

摘要： An article alignment unit adapted for use in a helix-type vending machine. The vending machine comprises a cabinet having a tray within the cabinet carrying at least two dispensing helices extending side-by-side from rear to front of the cabinet. Each helix is selectively driven for advancing articles to be dispensed placed on the tray between convolutions of the helix. A generally vertical central partition between the two helices has a top edge margin extending substantially the length of the helices, and first and second generally vertical outer partitions on opposite sides of the two helices. First and second article compartments are defined between the central partition and the first and second outer partitions, respectively, and each compartment contains one of the helices. The article alignment unit comprises a first elongate guide member adapted for pivoting about an axis parallel with and adjacent to the top edge margin of the central partition. The first member defines a guide surface which is varyingly positionable by pivoting the first guide member about the pivot axis from a generally vertical position adjacent the central partition to a position extending toward the first outer partition and above the helix of the first compartment for restricting lateral movement of articles within the first compartment.

摘要： A fail-safe bellows assembly eliminates the usual limit bolts and replaces them with a cylindrical guard that encircles the bellows element with its associated coupling flanges and interconnects said flanges so as to permit a limited safe magnitude of elongation and articulation. The guard is coupled to both flanges by pins radiating from the flanges that project into apertures in the guard with the apertures lareger than the O.D. of the pins to provide for relative movement of the flanges. A radial gap between the peripheries of the flanges and the guard is filled with a compressible foam layer, and aperture occluders are interposed between foam and guard to prevent extrusion through the apertures of a secondary seal sleeve that bridges the gap between the flanges.

摘要： Torque limiting clutch comprising a driving member and driven member bearing mounted together, with the driving member having a flange integrally extending from its one end, and having locating slots therein, for accommodating a series of ball detents, and with a spring and adjustable nut biasing against the detents for forcing them into a seating relationship upon bearing seats provided upon a rotatable member formed integrally of the driven member; a structured support connects with the rotatable member and extends concentrically along the length of the driving member, and provides support for the adjustable screws and springs mounted therein, with the structured support further furnishing enclosure for these operating components of the clutch for assuring their freedom from contamination during routine clutch usage and operation. Various races are biased against the ball detents and assure the distribution of uniform pressure against the dentents in their adjustable relationship with the rotatable member of the driving member, and provide freedom for shifting of the detents as they are unseated during clutch disconnection. Various rods and a displacement plate are connected to the races and are shiftable during clutch disconnection so that a micro or other switch can be actuated for shutting off the operations of the connected machinery when excessive torque has been encountered and clutch disconnection occurs.
