摘要: An automatic call distribution and voice line PBX switching system which includes a control complex having a first microprocessor based control circuit to selectively establish connections between access ports of a switching network. The control complex further includes a second microprocessor based control circuit which communicates data with a group of automatic call distribution positions, each of which is coupled to a different one of a first group of the access ports. The first and second microprocessor based control circuits communicate asynchronously through an interprocessor buffer circuit, and the number of automatic call distribution positions served by both the first and second control may be selected depending upon the particular application for the system.

摘要: Apparatus and methods for testing digital tone generators in a digital time division, multiplex telecommunications switching system. The tone generator produces both continuous and interrupted tones, and testing of any tone is accomplished by determining if its successive PCM words are stuck-at-dc. (SDD) and if it is an idle tone (ITD). The combinations of ITD and SDD determine whether (i) the tone generator being tested is malfunctioning, (ii) the test method or apparatus itself has failed, or (iii) the tone generator is functioning properly.

摘要: Different ones of a plurality of sounds or tones are digitally signaled selectively in the different time slots of recurring frame cycles by initially storing a group of PCM samples for each sound in addressable memory. As each given time slot recurs one sample of a sound preselected for that time slot is read out to a common bus, and as successive cycles occur the address signals applied to the memory during any given time slot are progressively changed to cause repeated scanning of the samples of the preselected sound. After address signals for one time slot have been pulled from a read/write memory, they are replaced by writing "next sample address" signals into the same location of that memory, the latter having a word location for each time slot and being addressed for reading and writing by control signals which exist during and uniquely identify the successive time slots of each cycle. Different scan sequences for different sounds are created by modifying the formation of "next sample address" signals under the control of characteristic-representing signals stored in a sequence memory and read out by call signals representing the preselected sound for any time slot. The preselection permits any of the sounds to be placed in any of the time slots or channels, but in the preferred form some of the time slots always carry the same sounds (fixed tones) while others may have their carried tones ("switched" or register tones) changed by commands received asynchronously from a central control unit. The methods and apparatus utilize ROM (although RAM may be employed) to pair different ones of the several sounds with different ones of several on/off schedules to form a larger plurality of distinctive "tones", any one of which may be digitally signaled in any time slot or channel. The method and the apparatus permit some of the tones to be "intercept" tones formed by two sounds transmitted alternately with a predetermined duty cycle.

摘要: A telephone transmission system has repeaters spaced along both the transmit and receive legs of the transmission line, with a power supply for the repeaters including a current regulator having positive and negative supply lines connecting the power supply to the two legs of the transmission line. Current surge protectors are connected from the two legs of the transmission line to ground. A pair of current sensors responsive to the current levels in the positive and negative supply lines, between the power supply and the current surge protectors closest to the power supply, produce output signals representative of the respective current levels. A control signal generating means receives the output signals from the current sensors and produces a control signal in response to a deviation of the higher current in the supply lines from a preselected reference level. The control signal is supplied to the current regulator to maintain the higher current level in the supply lines at the preselected reference level.

摘要: A locating and monitoring system includes transmitters worn by a person, animal, or equipment to transmit an unique identification code while moving about a facility. The code is transmitted by pulse bursts at diverse times during predetermined time intervals to prevent synchronization with resident signals in the facility. Receivers in the walls or ceilings of the facility respond to the infrared radiation of the pulse bursts and validate the identification code by a checksum of the code through a comparison with a checksum transmitted with the code. The receivers deliver validated codes to arbitrators and receive back signals indicative of the level of an individual assigned to a class wearing the transmitters. Signals from the receivers are received by arbitrators which forward the codes to a CPU for recording start and stop events indicative of movement by transmitters into and out of the reception range of the various receivers.

摘要: A microprocessor-based circuit for interfacing between a plurality of serial data terminals and an external parallel data operating system. The interface circuit includes an asynchronous receiver-transmitter, which converts serial data to parallel data and converts parallel data to serial data. The interface circuit multiplexes received serial data from the terminals and couples that serial data to the receiver-transmitter. The microprocessor in the interface circuit further controls the transfer of this now-parallel data to the external parallel data operating system. The microprocessor also controls the transfer of parallel data from the parallel data operating system, which is converted to serial data by the asynchronous receiver-transmitter, demultiplexed by the interface circuit and transmitted to the terminals. Both the transmission and the reception of serial data is coordinated by the microprocessor, which also controls the receiver-transmitter and a set of registers connected to the operating system on a parallel data bus.

摘要: A DTMF signal receiver, for telephone systems, includes an amplifier with automatic gain control for receiving and amplifying DTMF and audio signals. A series of bandpass and notch filters receive the output from the amplifier for producing bandpass and notch outputs in response to the DTMF frequencies. A detector receives the bandpass output from each of the filters to produce a signal representing the presence or absence of a signal of each DTMF frequency in the amplifier output, and a DTMF decoder receives the signals from all such detectors and produces output signals in response to simultaneous detection of preselected pairs of DTMF frequencies. A voice guard circuit receives the notch output from the last filter in the series and compares the amplitude of that notch output with a threshold level to produce a disable signal whenever the amplitude of the notch output is greater than the threshold. This disable signal is supplied to the DTMF decoder for disabling the production of output signals by the decoder and thereby preventing the detection of invalid DTMF signals.

摘要: A digital conferencing arrangement for use in a digital telecommunications switching system. Digital coded signals representative of sampled analog signals are compared and the results of the comparison noted to identify the present speaker in the conference. A comparison result indicating a proposed new speaker initiates a delay interval during which subsequent samples are compared to assure that the proposed new speaker indeed has the largest analog signal during the delay window. Upon verification of the proposed new speaker, the control of the conference circuit is transferred to him.

摘要: A switching regulator generates controllable pulses from a primary d-c. voltage source and then smooths the pulses to form a d-c. output that varies according to the changes in the pulses. A reference voltage source establishes a d-c. reference signal that varies in magnitude with any variations in the magnitude of the d-c. output but with a substantially constant differential in magnitude between the reference signal and the d-c. output. A voltage or current sensor generates a signal that varies in accordance with changes in the voltage or current level of the d-c. output, and a comparator detects the difference between the reference signal and the signal from the sensing means to produce a control signal that varies according to changes in the difference between the two signals. The pulses that form the d-c. output are adjusted in response to the control signal to maintain the output at a regulated voltage or current level. An auxiliary internal power supply is provided for the reference voltage source and the comparator and the current flow is returned through the reference voltage source and the comparator to the auxiliary internal power supply to minimize power losses in the reference voltage source and the comparator. A predetermined d-c. dry voltage is superimposed on the d-c. voltage from the primary source and floats with respect to the reference signal and the d-c. output.
