An illumination device comprising a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs) and a method for controlling the illumination device, so as to maintain a desired luminous flux and/or a desired color point of the device over variations in temperature and process, is provided herein. According to one embodiment, the method may include measuring a forward voltage developed across a first LED of the illumination device upon applying a first drive current to the first LED, determining a drive current needed to achieve a desired luminous flux from the first LED using the measured forward voltage, a table of stored calibration values correlating forward voltage and drive current to luminous flux at a plurality of different temperatures, and one or more interpolation techniques, and driving the first LED with the determined drive current to produce illumination having the desired luminous flux. The steps of measuring, determining and driving may be performed for each of the plurality of LEDs.

A communication system, network, interface, and port architecture are provided for transporting data across a ring network. A network node operating as a first timing master generates a set of frames, each frame having a preamble, a data field and a time count field, which represents a portion of the time information associated with the set of frames. This time information may include counted time units, like seconds, or a number of generated and transmitted over the network. As the individual frames of a set of frames are generated and sent on the network, they pass other network nodes and are forwarded through the ring bus to the first timing master which receives at least a portion of the set it is still generating. This enables a received time count field to be compared with a transmitted time count field of the same set. If the fields are identical, there is no other timing master on the bus. If there is another timing master on the bus, the additional timing master would overwrite the contents of the time count field propagating through the network; therefore, the received time count field would not be equal to the time count field being transmitted by the first timing master.

An illumination device is provided having one or more illumination LEDs configured to provide illumination for the device. Along with the illumination LED is a reference LED. The illumination LED provide illumination during normal operation of the device, whereas the reference LED provides a reference illumination, but does not provide illumination during normal operation. A light detector can detect light from the illumination LED and the reference LED, and control circuitry can be used to compare light detected from the reference LED and the illumination LED to adjust a brightness for the device. The light detector can comprise a photo-detector or can comprise an LED, such as one of the illumination LEDs if more than one illumination LED is utilized. A method is also provided for controlling brightness of an illumination device.

According to one embodiment, the biconical antenna comprises a pair of cone-shaped elements and a conducting ground plate. The cone-shaped elements are arranged back-to-back to one another and aligned along a first axis. The conducting ground plate is arranged between the cone-shaped elements in a plane perpendicular to the first axis. As described herein, the bifurcating ground plane provides the decoupling needed to eliminate the anomalous undulations, which tend to occur in the antenna response at odd-integer average quarter-wave frequencies.

Such embodiments of clamps and assemblies further include a fork having two prongs which are dimensionally configured to slide through first and second through holes of the encircling structure and into opposing sides of the outer circumferential groove when the base and mounting clamps are engaged.
