摘要: Method for treating a Roux-en-Y patient having fistulas and leaks as a result of bariatric surgery. A gastrointestinal implant device is anchored in the esophagus and extends through a stomach pouch into an intestine anastomosed to the stomach pouch to prevent fistulas and other damaged tissue from making contact with food and fluids entering the esophagus. The gastrointestinal implant device includes an unsupported flexible sleeve and an anchor coupled to a proximal portion of the sleeve. The flexible sleeve is open at both ends, and adapted to extend below a jejunum. The anchor is adapted to be retained within the esophagus, preferably just above the gastroesophageal (GE) Junction. The anchor can include a stent such as a wave anchor and is collapsible for catheter-based delivery and removal.

摘要: A region of air is manipulated to reflect, absorb, or redirect sound energy to prevent the sound energy from reaching a listener separated from the sound source by the region of air. The region of air may be manipulated by directing ultrasonic sound waves with a sound pressure level of at least 140 decibels at the region of air.

摘要: A helium management control system for controlling the helium refrigerant supply from a common manifold supplies a plurality of cryogenic refrigerators with an appropriate helium supply. The system employs a plurality of sensors to monitor and regulate the overall refrigerant supply to deliver an appropriate refrigerant supply to each of the cryogenic refrigerators depending on the computed aggregate cooling demand of all of the cryogenic refrigerators. An appropriate supply of helium is distributed to each cryopump by sensing excess and sparse helium refrigerant and redistributing refrigerant accordingly. If the total refrigeration supply exceeds the total refrigerant demand, or consumption, excess refrigerant is directed to cryogenic refrigerators which can utilize the excess helium to complete a current cooling function more quickly. Similarly, if the total refrigeration demand exceeds the total refrigeration supply, the refrigerant supply to some or all of the cryogenic refrigerators will be reduced accordingly so that detrimental or slowing effects are minimized based upon the current cooling function.

摘要: A movable safety barrier system includes a flexible barrier member having a barrier member length with first and second ends, and a width. The barrier member can have a construction that is flexible in both directions along the length and width of the barrier member. First and second end supports are provided which are capable of supporting respective first and second ends of the length of the barrier member when the barrier member is extended between the end supports. The end supports can allow the extended barrier member to move in a direction transverse to the width of the barrier member when desired.

摘要: In a network of intermittently-connected computers, a method and apparatus for maintaining and managing control over data objects authored, accessed, and altered by users in dynamic, distributed, and collaborative contexts. The invention method and apparatus attach to each data object an identification of a respective control policy. Each control policy comprises at least an indication of a subset of the users who may access the data object, an indication of the privileges granted to each subset of users able to access the data object, and an indication of a subset of users who may define or edit the control policy. The invention method and apparatus separate the management of the control policies of data objects from the creation and use of the data objects. The invention method and apparatus automate common policy changes, distribution of policy changes to the enforcement agents, and propagation of control policies to derivative works.

摘要: A method, or corresponding apparatus, assumes a call is a Voice Band Data (VBD) call. The method disables a local echo canceller and transmits a tone that disables distal echo canceller(s) along a communications path across which the call is communicated. After disabling the echo cancellers, the echo cancellers are allowed to operate in a typical manner, such as according to ITU standards, after the call is established, including remaining disabled if the call is a Voice Band Data call and being automatically enabled if the call is or becomes a voice call. The method or apparatus is particularly useful in networks having Point of Service (POS) devices that have modems that do not send out a 2100 Hz tone to disable echo cancelling in the communications path. In one embodiment, the method or corresponding apparatus is deployed in a gateway.
