    Abstract: A construction apparatus having an arrangement for controlling guidance of a frame thereof along a predetermined path, e.g., a slip-form paving apparatus, has an arrangement for selectively digging vertical bores in the ground surface at spacings along the predetermined path for planting of vertical posts to be secured by the paving material upon setting thereof. In operation, as the construction apparatus is guided over the ground surface along the predetermined path, the bore-digging arrangement is periodically actuated to form vertical bores at spacings along the predetermined path, after which a settable paving material is formed along the predetermined path including filling the vertical bores with the paving material, and posts are placed vertically in the holes for securement therein.

    Abstract: An improved controlled-motion instrument is provided for grasping, holding or otherwise manipulating an object in operations such as endoscopic procedures. The instrument opens and closes jaws or other manipulation members by way of a longitudinally movable cam member, but maintains the longitudinal position of the manipulation members constant relative to the instrument's body regardless of opening and closing motion. The manipulation members thus have increased length-to-diameter ratio and column strength, and the cam provides positive lateral jaw support and stability during opening and closing. The movable cam member can also include other manipulation members thereon that work in conjunction with the longitudinally fixed manipulation members.

    Abstract: A hinge assembly is described which can be assembled by snapping together moldable half-cap pieces about the end of a baluster pierced through by a hole. The baluster turns about spindles formed by the half-caps. The half-caps may be fixed together by press-fit mating surfaces and may be placed within a mating groove defined by a hand rail or shoe rail. The half-cap pieces and the hole are not readily apparent in a finished staircase containing the hinge assembly. The hinge assembly successfully employs pin top balusters, as well as rectangular balusters.Alternatively, a hinge assembly is described which can be inserted into the bore of an end-bored bluster, fastened to the inside of the bore, and pivotally attached to a flange suitable for attachment to a rail. The hinge assembly requires no external modification to the normally exposed surfaces of the baluster. The flange includes an H-shaped foot which may be concealed in a groove defined by a hand rail or a shoe rail. The pivot point is raised slightly above the inner surface of the groove to prevent any unsightly gap, termed “bird's' mouth” in the industry, adjacent the baluster.Methods for using the hinge assemblies and for pivotally attaching balusters and rails are also described.

    Abstract: A safety seat comprising a unitary molded shell having a “bucket-seat” shape and a safety restraint system integral to the shell. The molded unitary shell has a bottom portion and a back portion. The shell comprises an inner layer and an outer layer made of a carbon fiber laminate with a core situated between the inner and outer layers. The core comprises aluminum sheeting having a honeycomb-like cross-section. A plurality of attachment plates are selectively located within the shell and disposed between the inner and outer layers. The safety restraint system is fastened to corresponding attachment plates. Support plates located on a non-seating surface of the shell are mated with selected attachment plates. A headrest is selectively attached to the safety seat. The safety seat is secured to structural members within a vehicle by mounting brackets.     Abstract: A tool is disclosed, for inserting a multi-turn spiral lock, received by a groove of a piston assembly. The tool includes a handle, for transmitting manual torque forces, to enter a spiral, grooved head, or a profiled fitting, a wire lock ring. The spiral, grooved head, is manufactured, with a ½ turn medium-pitched, helical groove. This permits the ½ spire, after being assembled, to be easily pushed, and transferred, to a piston groove. Also, a wire lock end, equipped with a controlled sliding sleeve, allows the ring to be located on the tool, prior to assembly. This allows for an easy bore insertion to snap the wire lock into the bore groove.

    Abstract: A hand rail assembly for assisting the ingress and egress of a recreational vehicle. The hand rail assembly has a banister and a support structure, one end of each pivotally attached to the exterior of a recreational vehicle adjacent to a door, and the other end of each pivotally connected to each other.
