摘要: A system and method for compensation of angular distortions in a system utilizing light emitters and light sensors disposed on non-parallel jaws may include determining a first point at a first side of a region of interest and a second point at a second side of the region of interest, determining a linear curve including the first and second points, and utilizing the linear curve to remove the angular distortion from the region of interest between the first and second points. A system and method for compensation of angular distortions may alternatively include modeling a non-pulsatile illumination pattern according to the intensities of individual emitters, comparing the pattern according to the model against a non-pulsatile illumination pattern detected using the light sensors, and varying the intensities of the individual emitters based on the comparison until angular distortion has been removed.

摘要: An access device for accessing an intervertebral disc having an outer shield comprising an access shield with a larger diameter (˜16-30 mm) that reaches from the skin down to the facet line, with an inner shield having a second smaller diameter (˜5-12 mm) extending past the access shield and reaches down to the disc level. This combines the benefits of the direct visual microsurgical/mini open approaches and the percutaneous, “ultra-MIS” techniques.

摘要: A fastener delivery tool is disclosed. An example fastener delivery tool comprises a sheath assembly including a sheath and a position retention member and a retraction assembly including a cover and a retractor member. The cover includes a lumen extending therein. The fastener delivery tool also includes and a handle assembly coupled to a proximal end of the sheath assembly, the handle assembly including a housing and an actuation member. Further, the sheath assembly extends through the lumen of the cover and the retractor member is configured to move relative to the handle between a first position in which the sheath assembly is disposed within a distal portion of the cover and a second position in which the sheath assembly extends out of the distal portion of the cover. Additionally, actuation of the actuation member moves the retractor member from the first position to the second position.

摘要: Some embodiments are directed to a surgical robotic system for use in a surgical procedure, including a surgical arm having a movable arm part for mounting of a surgical instrument having at least one degree-of-freedom to enable longitudinal movement of the surgical instrument towards a surgical target. Some other embodiments are directed to a human machine interface for receiving positioning commands from a human operator for controlling the longitudinal movement of the surgical instrument, and an actuator configured for actuating the movable arm part to effect the longitudinal movement of the surgical instrument, and controlled by a processor in accordance with the positioning commands and a virtual bound. The virtual bound establishes a transition in the control of the longitudinal movement of the surgical instrument in a direction towards the surgical target. The virtual bound is determined, during use of the surgical robotic system, based on the positioning commands.

摘要: Release System and Cutting Profile applied to disposable self-locking intracranial drill bit, comprising a disposable cranial drill bit, for single-use, assembled from a coupling mechanism with an internal drill bit and another external one, where an axial load is applied to the cutting edges to transmit the rotary movement to the device, so that, after accessing the cranial bone the mechanism is released and the drill bit ceases its movement, being the coupling mechanism composed by a mechanical arrangement of two sliding helical cams, which interact with a ring, the geometry of which results in coupling, when the drill bit contacts the cranial bone surface, and the drill bit release, once the internal drill bit crossed the bone without affecting the lower cranial layers. The set is encapsulated in a plastic body, which allows the drill bit assembly in a number of craniotomy equipment.

A body of the safety device has a cavity that receives the intra-osseous device, and the cavity guides the removal of the intra-osseous device along a straight line to prevent injury during removal. The intra-osseous device is drawn past a lock feature that secures the intra-osseous device within the body such that a needle of the intra-osseous device is contained within a cavity of the body and cannot injure the patient, staff members, etc.

摘要: An ingress-egress apparatus for protection of a surgical work site during removal of a surgical implant therefrom includes an inverted frustum surface having a sidewall defining: a bottom open area at a base portion of the frustum surface sidewall, and an opposing top open area at a top portion of the frustum surface sidewall. The top open area has a larger area than the bottom open area. The apparatus includes an ingress port located at the base portion of the frustum surface sidewall and an egress port located at the base portion of the frustum surface sidewall. During surgical removal of the surgical implant using a surgical burr, the apparatus can be used to irrigate the work site, thereby cooling it and protecting it from damage, and further removing metal implant particles generated during burring.
