摘要: Ultraviolet irradiation of an aquatic environment for the purposes of sterilization, disinfection, and/or cleaning fluids and surfaces associated with the aquatic environment. The aquatic environment can be irradiated using an ultraviolet illuminator having at least one ultraviolet radiation source and at least one sensor to detect conditions of the aquatic environment including fluid conditions and/or surface conditions associated with the aquatic environment. A control unit, operatively coupled to the at least one ultraviolet radiation source and the at least one sensor, determines a presence of algae growth about the aquatic environment. The control unit is further configured to direct the at least one ultraviolet radiation source to irradiate the aquatic environment at locations where there is a presence of algae growth for removal and suppression of further growth, monitor the irradiation with the at least one sensor, and adjust irradiation parameters as a function of detected conditions.

摘要: There is described a bioreactor comprising a perforated tube for inputting wastewater therein, a textured wall, such as a geotextile membrane, and an oxygenating unit comprising a pressurized air bubble diffuser. The wall is spirally installed around the perforated tube, defining a passageway fluidly connected to the perforated tube and along which the wastewater inputted in the perforated tube is forced to travel. The membrane is adapted for hosting aerobic bacteria at a surface thereof. The oxygenating unit is provided at a bottom of the passageway for oxygenating the passageway. The bioreactor can be included in a treatment apparatus comprising primary treatment chambers and a decantation chambers, forming a standalone unit which is compact and easy to install.

摘要: Processes, methods, and systems are disclosed for treatment and removal of peracetic acid (PAA), quaternary ammonia compounds (Quat), hydrogen peroxide, chlorine, chloramines, chlorinated organics, surfactants, and other such chemicals from wastewater pretreatment processes typically employed by livestock processing, meat processing, and/or food processing plants that generate wastewater outflows. Treatment and/or removal these chemicals commonly found in such wastewater allows the further treatment of the wastewater downstream by commonly employed biological wastewater treatment processes such as anaerobic, anoxic, or aerobic suspended growth activated sludge processes; anaerobic, anoxic, or aerobic fixed growth, IFAS, moving bed bioreactor (MBBR) or Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) processes; anaerobic lagoons; anaerobic fluidized bed or fixed bed processes; and/or, anaerobic sludge digestion processes commonly employed for biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) removal, ammonia removal, total nitrogen removal, and/or phosphorus removal.

摘要: Quantum dots of Cd (Se,S) and fluorescent magnetic nanocomposites (Cd (Se,S)-Magnetite) were used as photocatalyst agent in the photodegradation of methylene blue (MB) under UV irradiation at pH 6.5. A degradation of 99.1% and 90.0% of MB was achieved in presence of 160 mg/L-quantum dots and magnetic nanocomposite, respectively, after 4.5 hours of UV-irradiation. Instead, 45.9% and 100% of MB degradation was achieved using 160 mg/L of TiO2 anatase and aeroxide P25, respectively. The reuse of the magnetic nanocomposites allowed a maximum photo-degradation capacity of 65%.

摘要: A system for disinfecting a fluid, including: a flow cell including one or more inlet ports and one or more outlet ports, wherein the flow cell is configured to communicate a fluid containing a biological contaminant from the one or more inlet ports to the one or more outlet portions through an interior portion thereof; and one or more point radiation sources disposed about the flow cell, wherein the one or more point radiation sources are operable for delivering radiation to the biological contaminant; wherein an interior surface of the flow cell is operable for reflecting the radiation delivered to the biological contaminant by the one or more point radiation sources; and wherein the interior surface of the flow cell is operable for reflecting the radiation delivered to the biological contaminant by the one or more point radiation sources such that a radiation intensity is uniform throughout the interior portion of the flow cell. In one exemplary embodiment, the flow cell is an integrating sphere. Optionally, the system also includes a photocatalyzing material disposed on at least a portion of the interior surface of the flow cell.
