Abstract:
A method and apparatus for collecting information about an event in which a user accesses the Internet through the system of a first Internet Service Provider with whom the user does not have an account. The apparatus includes a first server that creates a record of the user's Internet usage and sends the record to a second server. The second server collects records from a plurality of Internet Service Providers and forwards the records to a third server on a regular basis. The third server processes the data in the plurality of records and generates a report showing how much money the first Internet Service Provider is owed for allowing the user to access the Internet through the system of the first Internet Service Provider.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for improving output skew across the data bus of a synchronous integrated circuit device. The device includes a clock input buffer that receives a system clock signal and generates a buffered clock signal, a delay line that receives the buffered clock signal and generates a delayed clock signal, and an output circuit including output signal paths for outputting the output signals synchronously with the system clock signal by using the delayed clock signal. At least one of the output signal paths includes a delay circuit and an output buffer. Each delay circuit provides a programmable delay to the delayed clock signal to generate a unique delayed clock signal used to clock an output signal into the respective output buffer. By programming the delays based upon output skew, the output skew can be improved.
Abstract:
A method, apparatus, system, and signal-bearing medium that in an embodiment determine a degree of correlation between a speaker output signal and a microphone input signal and modulate an adaptive gain of an acoustic echo canceller based on the degree of correlation.
Abstract:
A retainer secures one or more printed wiring assemblies in a processor unit. In one embodiment, the retainer has one or more protuberances that abut against a wiring assembly to secure it in place, or sit within a cutout section in the wiring assembly to secure the assembly in a serviceable position.
Abstract:
A process comprising, providing an agricultural biofuel to a fluidized bed reactor and combusting the agricultural biofuel to produce heat and/or steam is disclosed. In one embodiment, the agricultural biofuel is selected from the group consisting of agricultural crops, crop residues, grain processing facility waste, value-added agricultural facility byproducts, livestock production facility waste, livestock processing facility waste and food processing facility waste. In one embodiment, the heat and/or steam is used to generate electricity. In other embodiments, the heat and/or steam is used to power the grain processing facility, livestock production facility, livestock processing facility or food processing facility. In another embodiment, one or more environmental controls are used. In a particular embodiment, ethanol byproducts are used as the agricultural biofuel.
Abstract:
A wireless local area network (WLAN) device (200, FIG. 2) includes a medium access control (MAC) device (204) and a physical (PHY) device (202). The PHY device receives and transmits frames (FIG. 3) over a wireless medium. The MAC device detects (604, FIG. 6) when receipt is completed of a physical layer convergence procedure (PLCP) header (304, FIG. 3) of a received frame. Based on information that the MAC device extracts (606) from the PLCP header, the MAC device predicts (618) header information for a response frame before receipt of the received frame has completed. The PHY device begins transmitting (1110, FIG. 11) the response frame preamble (302, FIG. 3) upon expiration of an interframe space (IFS).
Abstract:
An apparatus and a system, as well as a method and article, may operate to include repeating first data to provide first repeated data and deleting second repeated data to provide second data according to a programmed standard included in a first apparatus and selected from a plurality of reprogrammable standards.
Abstract:
During formation of an ad hoc group, the transmit power level of a user device within a wireless communication network is reduced. Potential group members are thus identified within an immediate vicinity of the user device.
Abstract:
A gate oxide and method of fabricating a gate oxide that produces a more reliable and thinner equivalent oxide thickness than conventional SiO2 gate oxides are provided. Also shown is a gate oxide with a conduction band offset in a range of approximately 5.16 eV to 7.8 eV. Gate oxides formed from elements such as zirconium are thermodynamically stable such that the gate oxides formed will have minimal reactions with a silicon substrate or other structures during any later high temperature processing stages. The process shown is performed at lower temperatures than the prior art, which further inhibits reactions with the silicon substrate or other structures. Using a thermal evaporation technique to deposit the layer to be oxidized, the underlying substrate surface smoothness is preserved, thus providing improved and more consistent electrical properties in the resulting gate oxide.
Abstract:
A cardiac rhythm management device is configured to detect oscillations in cardiac rhythm by comparing electrogram signals during successive heart beats. Upon detection of electrical alternans, the device may adjust its operating behavior to compensate for the deleterious effects of the condition.
