    摘要： An emergency locking safety belt retractor mechanism includes a belt winding reel, at least one reel associated ratchet member having a plurality of ratchet teeth, dual locking pawl means mounted for engaging the ratchet teeth of the ratchet member and inertia responsive means for actuating one of the locking pawl means into locking engagement with the associated ratchet member. The dual locking pawl means include a pair of locking pawls mounted to the retractor in piggyback or overlying relation such that in the event the first locking pawl fails to lock with the ratchet member because of a pawl bounce condition, its deflective motion away from the ratchet member causes it to engage and move the second locking pawl into a locking condition with ratchet member, locking the reel against further protraction of the webbing.

    摘要： An apparatus and method for automatic assembly and interconnection of a safety belt and an anchor plate which is attachable to a frame member of a vehicle. The apparatus and method is embodied in a system for rapid production of such assembly wherein a plurality of anchor plate carrier arms are each sequentially positioned at a plurality of stations at which an anchor plate with a belt receiving opening therein is releasably positioned on the carrier arm, a pliant bendable belt is longitudinally folded at one end and advanced into and through said anchor plate opening for only a predetermined selected distance, the longitudinally folded belt is then transversely folded about the anchor plate, the folds are symmetrically arranged and creased, and the belt is then secured in assembly with the anchor plate in the bight of the belt thus formed by adhesively bonding and sewing the opposed belt portions together. The apparatus and method automatically accomplishes the assembly of the belt and anchor plate in a rapid virtually foolproof manner while providing a safety belt anchor connection capable of meeting safety regulations and Governmental standards.

    摘要： A push button buckle for use in a safety restraint system in combination with a mating tongue plate connector whereby only a small force is required to release the buckle from the mating connector even when the restraint system is in tension through the application of a load. The buckle comprises the conventional base, pivotally mounted latch lever, spring for biasing the latch lever to the locking position, and with the improvement comprising a first push button lever pivotally mounted adjacent one end and in contact with the latch member at its opposite end and a second push button lever also pivotally mounted at one end at a spaced apart location from the pivotal mounting of the first push button lever and overlying the first push button lever, whereby the application of force on the second push button lever which is exposed through a cover of the buckle engages and pivots the first push button lever which moves the latch member to a release position and in which the first and second push button levers are so arranged and proportioned so as to provide a mechanical advantage to reduce the force required to release the buckle from the mating connector.

    摘要： A safety restraint system for use in a vehicle having a seat with a backrest through which an occupant is restrained during emergency conditions. The system includes a shoulder or chest belt mounted at one end to a retraction device permitting protraction of the belt to a first length so that it may be connected to a restraint element and disposed diagonally across the upper torso of the occupant. This first length may be selected so that the belt is in non-pressure contact with the occupant when the occupant is seated. The retraction device may permit further protraction of the belt in response to movement of the occupant providing the protraction does not exceed a predetermined acceleration level. An improvement provides for selectively preventing the belt from retracting after protraction to the first length and in which the safety belt may be protracted to a further length by movement of the occupant but prevented from retracting to a length less than the first length so that the safety belt returns to the non-pressure contact length subsequent to every protraction due to movement of the occupant as allowed by the inertia-responsive retraction device.
