Abstract: Features are disclosed for facilitating content consumption and communication among a group of users. A content consumption group may be formed including any number of users, and content may be selected. Group members may consume roughly the same portion of the content at roughly the same time and share the consumption experience regardless of geographic location, user device, content format, on-demand consumption preferences, and the like. Policies may be defined or selected regarding the rate of content consumption, the communications and other inputs that may be submitted by group members, and the like. A shared content consumption management system may receive data from various user devices regarding each group member's current content consumption position, enforce group policies, and distribute group inputs. Group members may also communication in real time through various chats and other interactive features.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to one or more configured computing systems identifying companion content and supplemental content for a base content. Companion content may include, for example, video adaptations of the base content. Supplemental content may include content referenced or related in subject matter to the base content. Information regarding companion content may be utilized to enable a user to interchangeably or synchronously present either a base content (e.g., an eBook or audio book) with the companion content (e.g., a movie adaptation). Information regarding supplemental content may be utilized to present the supplemental content during consumption of a base content, or to save supplemental content for later viewing.

Abstract: A system for publishing advertising media on a plurality of media delivery systems, each configured to render media and gather environmental data while rendering the media. The system includes a front-end system in communication with the plurality of media delivery systems. The front-end system is configured to permit an advertiser to select at least one of the plurality of media delivery systems on which to render advertising media and is further configured to accept advertising media uploaded by the advertiser. The system further includes a back-end system in communication with the front-end system and the plurality of media delivery systems. The back-end system is configured to upload the advertising media to the selected media delivery systems for rendering and is further configured to upload the environmental data from the plurality of media delivery systems.

Abstract: A back-channel media delivery system that may be used for tracking the number and type of human impressions of media content rendered by the system during the time the media was rendered is provided. The back-channel media delivery system includes a rendering device for rendering media, an environmental sensor for sensing impressions and other environmental variables and a computing device configured to play media on the rendering device, and gather data related to the external states detected by the environmental sensor. The system may include rules that interpret that data and may cause the system to custom select, tailor or control future playback of media on the system.

Abstract: Methods and systems for presenting enhanced previously recorded broadcasted or streamed content are provided. Example embodiments provide an Enhanced Content Display System “ECDS,” which supports the management and presentation of previously recorded program content in a non-linear fashion and allows subscribers, using a variety of techniques, to specify which portions of programs or other content is of interest, thus enhancing their viewing experiences. In one embodiment, the ECDS includes an Intelligent Media Data Server (“IMDS”) that generates enhanced meta-data that are associated with portions of the delivered broadcasted content or video content. Using the generated enhanced meta-data, the ECDS helps subscribers locate, organize, and otherwise manage content that is delivered from a content distribution facility. This abstract is provided to comply with rules requiring an abstract, and it is submitted with the intention that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims.
