Abstract: Methods of designing corneal implants, such as inlays, to compensate for a corneal response, such as epithelial remodeling of the epithelial layer, to the presence of the implant. Additionally, methods of performing alternative corneal vision correction procedures to compensate for an epithelial response to the procedure. Methods of compensating for a corneal response when performing a vision correction procedure to create a center near region of the cornea for near vision while providing distance vision peripheral to the central near zone.

Abstract: Described herein are designs of intracorneal inlays to produce desired shapes of the cornea's anterior surface for correcting vision impairments. In an exemplarily embodiment, a thickness profile is defined by a difference between a desired post-operative anterior corneal surface that corrects a patient's vision impairment and the patient's pre-operative anterior corneal surface. An inlay is then dimensioned to substantially have the same thickness profile. When implanted in the patient's cornea, the thickness profile of the inlay is substantially transferred to the anterior corneal surface through the intervening corneal tissue, thereby producing the desired post-operative anterior corneal surface.

Abstract: A mower including support for an operator in a standing position during use thereof. Specifically, the mower includes a support against which an operator may lean when operating the mower in the standing position. Additionally, the support includes a portion capable of being straddled and then sat upon by the operator. This capability allows the operator to relieve at least some of the pressure applied to his/her body during extended periods of standing on the platform.

Abstract: An ophthalmic lens for providing a plurality of foci has an optic comprising an anterior surface, a posterior surface, and an optical axis. The optic has a first region and a second region. The first region has a refractive optical power and comprises a multifocal phase plate for forming a first focus and a second focus. The second region has a refractive optical power and comprises a monofocal phase plate for forming a third focus. The multifocal phase plate and the monofocal phase plate may be disposed on first and second base curvatures, respectively, that may have different radii of curvature. The ophthalmic lens may also have an intermediate phase plate located between the multifocal phase plate and the monofocal phase plate, the intermediate phase plate comprising a third plurality of echelettes disposed on a third base curvature having a third radius of curvature.
