Abstract:
The invention is an access operating device equipped with a photovoltaic housing, and in particular, an access device, for example a movable barrier operator, equipped with a housing, which has been retrofitted with a photovoltaic substrate or film, and adapted to convert energy, for example solar energy, to an electrical power source for powering the movable barrier operator or access operating device. The photovoltaic housing is used to draw light energy and convert it to an electrical power supply for the operator's various devices, for example, a controller and motor.
Abstract:
The invention is a movable barrier system for controlling access to a secured premise utilizing biometric technology. More particularly, a system in accordance with the present invention comprises a movable barrier, an operator adapted to control movement of the movable barrier, and a biometric device adapted to sense a user's biometric parameters to identify and authorize the user to control access to the premises. When a user enters his or her biometric parameter in the biometric device and the user's biometric parameter is matched and identified, the biometric device generates a security signal to the movable barrier operator indicating the user is authorized to control access. The user enters a command to the movable barrier that is received by the movable barrier operator. The movable barrier operator relays the command to the movable barrier and the movable barrier performs in accordance to the command.
Abstract:
The invention is an apparatus and method for controlling, monitoring and upgrading information via a power line that typically only supplies power to a gate operation system. By introducing an electrical signal to a power line along a frequency not used for the purposes of supplying electricity, signals and commands can propagate through a local power grid so that a user, for example a technician, may set, adjust and upgrade parameters of a gate operator in the comfort of a room that shares the same power grid as the gate operation system.
