The present invention pertains to an apparatus for containing material produced by a patient. The apparatus is comprised of a container having a first portion with a first cavity within which the anatomical material is held and an opening through which the anatomical material is provided to the first cavity. The apparatus is also comprised of a second portion with a second cavity in communication with the first cavity, and a removable seal disposed between the first cavity and the second cavity. Additionally, the apparatus is comprised of an immobilizing material disposed in the first portion, which when the seal is removed between the first cavity and second cavity mixes with patient material and immobilizes it. The present invention also pertains to a method for collecting anatomical material produced by a patient. The method comprises the steps of placing or collecting the anatomical material into a first cavity of a first portion of a container. Then, there is the step of releasing immobilizing material from a second cavity of a second portion of the container in communication with the first cavity into the first cavity so the anatomical material is immobilized in the first cavity.

The present invention pertains to a direct current electric arc furnace for melting or heating raw materials or molten material. The furnace comprises a refractory lined vessel for holding raw or molten metal material. The furnace also comprises a first top electrode and at least a second top electrode. Each of the top electrodes enters the vessel above the raw or molten material and has a position in the vessel. The furnace comprises at least one bottom electrode mounted in the bottom of the vessel and in electrical contact with the raw or molten material in the vessel. Additionally, the furnace comprises an electrical power supply mechanism with conductors to electrically connect to the top electrodes and the bottom electrode in order to input electrical energy into the material through the top and bottom electrodes in the form of arcs which deflect toward each other and define a hot area. The first and second top electrodes have the same electrical polarity while the bottom electrode has an opposite electrical polarity to the electrical polarity of the top electrodes. The present invention pertains to a method for heating raw material. The method comprises the steps of providing direct current to a first top electrode and a second top electrode having the same electrical polarity, and to a bottom electrode having opposite polarity to the top electrodes in a vessel. Next, there is the step of creating a first electric arc in the vessel from the first top electrode which contacts the material. Then, there is the step of creating a second electrical arc in the vessel from the second top electrode which contacts the material and is deflected toward the first electric arc to create a hot area.

An apparatus for exercising. The apparatus is comprised of a first extension and a second extension. Each extension is collapsible for portability, but rigid when deployed. Additionally, each extension has in proximity to its first end a pad. The pad is connected to the extension such that it can rotate and translate to a desired position and then be fixed relative to the extension. Each pad has a deployable handle with which to grip the extension and move it. Each pad also has an opening within which the handle can be disposed when not deployed. The apparatus is also comprised of a device for providing resistance to the first and second extension when they are moved relative to each other. The first and second extensions extend from and are connected to the resistance providing means. The user exercises muscles in his legs by placing the pads between his legs and closing his legs against the resistance of the apparatus. The user exercises muscles in his upper body by gripping the handles of the apparatus and bringing his arms together against the resistance of the apparatus.
