    摘要: A solid compound of a transition metal is ground in the presence of aluminium chloride, titanium tetrachloride and at least one organo-Lewis Base compound. The transition metal compound is typically titanium trichloride. The Lewis Base compound is an organo-phosphorus compound, preferably one which also contains nitrogen, such as 2-dimethylamino-1,3-dimethyl-1,3,2-diazaphospholidine-2-oxide or an organo-sulphur compound such as diphenyl sulphone. The solid compound of the transition metal may include aluminium chloride and if the amount of this aluminium chloride is at least 50% molar, there is no need to make a separate addition of aluminium chloride to the mixture which is ground. The ground product can be used as a component of an olefine polymerization catalyst.

    摘要: An olefine polymerisation catalyst includes a solid compound of a transition metal, e.g. titanium trichloride, an organo-compound of a non-transition metal, e.g. aluminium triethyl or diethyl aluminium chloride and a pentavalent phosphorus compound of the typeR.sub.3.sub.-n P(Q)(E--Z--G),e.g.[(CH.sub.3).sub.2 N].sub.2 P(O)N(CH.sub.3)CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 N(CH.sub.3).sub.2and(CH.sub.3).sub.2 NP(O)[OCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 N(CH.sub.3).sub.2 ].sub.2The transition metal compound can be ball-milled in the presence of a further compound which can be the specified phosphorus compound or an electron donor compound, e.g., triphenylphosphine oxide. Using catalysts of this type, a combination of high activity and high stereospecificity can be obtained when polymerising an olefine monomer.

    摘要: A titanium trihalide is ground with an organic Lewis Base compound which contains at least one phosphorus atom, and optionally at least one nitrogen atom, and a titanium tetrahalide, the Lewis Base and the titanium tetrahalide being used in amounts of 5 to 75, preferably 5 to 50%, molar and 1 to 50, preferably 5 to 30% molar respectively relative to the titanium trihalide. The materials are conveniently milled together and the milled product can be used as a component of an olefine polymerization catalyst and when such catalysts are used to polymerize propylene a high activity is achieved together with satisfactory stereospecificity.

    摘要: An olefine polymerization catalyst includes a complex compound of phosphorus having the general formula ##EQU1## where the various groups are defined. Typical phosphorus compounds include ##EQU2## Catalyst systems containing these phosphorus compounds give a high rate of polymerization together with a low proportion of soluble polymer. The phosphorus compound can be ball-milled with the titanium compound to give an improved effect and the catalyst system may also include an electron donor compound such as triphenylphosphine oxide and tris(dimethylamino)silicon monochloride or a cyclic polyene such as cycloheptatriene.

    摘要: according to the present invention (1) a titanium trihalide is ground in the presence of from 5 up to 75% molar, relative to the titanium trihalide, of (2) a Lewis Base compound which is an organo-phosphorus compound of the formulaR.sub.1 R.sub.2 R.sub.3 P(O).sub.aand either (a) from 1 up to 50% molar, relative to the titanium trihalide, of a titanium tetrahalide and/or (b) from 0.2 up to 50% molar, relative to the titanium trihalide, of an oxidizing agent, wherein when a titanium tetrahalide is present, the molar quantity of the organo-phosphorus compound is at least equal to the molar quantity of the titanium tetrahalide.The titanium halides (1) and (a) are preferably the chlorides. Suitable forms of titanium trichloride are obtained by the reduction of titanium tetrachloride with hydrogen, titanium metal, aluminum metal or an organo-aluminium compound. It is preferred to use a material of the type, titanium trichloride/aluminium chloride, such as is obtainable by the reduction of titanium tetrachloride with aluminium metal.In the organo-phosphorus compound, R.sub.1 is conveniently an alkyl group containing 2 to 10 carbon atoms. The groups R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 can be alkyl, aryl, cycloalkyl, alkaryl or aralkyl groups. Preferably, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are both alkyl groups and preferably R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are all the same, for example, butyl as in tributylphosphine and tributylphosphine oxide.Suitable oxidizing agents include oxygen gas or halogen-containing materials such as chlorine gas, carbon tetrachloride, hexachlorocyclopentadiene, stannic chloride, phosphorus pentachloride and iodine.The product produced by grinding (1), (2) and either (a) and/or (b) above may be admixed with (A) to form an olefin polymerization catalyst, wherein(A) is at least one organo-metallic compound of aluminium or of a non-transition metal of Group IIA of the Periodic System, or a complex of an organo-metallic compound of a non-transition metal of Group IA or IIA of the Periodic System and an organo-aluminium compound. That polymerization catalyst may be modified by the addition of a Lewis Base which is effective to modify the stereospecificity of the catalyst and/or a substituted or unsubstituted polyene.

    摘要: An olefine polymerization catalyst comprising (1) a solid compound of a transition metal wherein the said metal has a valency below its maximum, (2) an organo-metallic compound of aluminium, or of a non-transition metal of Group II of the Periodic System, or a complex of an organo-metallic compound of a non-transition metal of Group I or II of the Periodic System and an organo-aluminium compound; and (3) a trivalent phosphorus compound of the formulaPR'.sub.3-n (X-A-Y).sub.nWhereinR' is halogen, a hydrocarbyl group or the group --NR.sub.2 or --OR;X is --O--, --S--, or --NR--;A is a bivalent organic radical such that X and Y are separated by not more than 3 carbon atoms;Y is --OR, --SR, --NR.sub.2, --PR.sub.2 or a heterocyclic ring system whereof the heteroatom is O, S, N or P; andn is 1, 2 or 3. The phosphorus compound can be ball-milled with the transition metal component of the catalyst. The catalyst may also include an electron donor compound of a known type such as isoquinoline, tetramethylene-diamine or triphenyl phosphone oxide. When used to polymerize olefine monomers such as propylene, the production of soluble polymer is decreased.
